Rookie Draft Problem

Hi everyone. It's my first post, but I'm a long-time reader of this forum and I really enjoy OOTP and think it is a great game.

I'm using the 1.3 patch on my global league (the original league was started on an earlier patch version) and haven't had any issues, until I got into the second year of the league. During the amateur draft in the 2007 season, I noticed that a number of the players were being drafted multiple times in different rounds, and in some instances, multiple times in the same round by different teams (this happened to a guy I drafted as the third overall pick in the first round, and he got drafted again as the 10th pick in that round and now he's on the other team's minor league roster). I will post some screenshots of this when I get home.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? One tactic I was using during this draft was to select the player that the scout recommended.

Whitesnake, I didn't want your first post to go unanswered but I see that you have made two posts as of this time. Hopefully the second one is on the TechSupport board where your question will get the proper attention. Screenshots of the problem are very useful, but they have to be under 100KB each and only five total.

Usually, I have found, if someone posts a specific problem here on the General Discussion board and gets no answer, it means that it is not a common problem. Your best bet then is the TechSupport forum.

Would you be able to ftp these files so I can take a look at them? Please follow the instructions at the following link and send all of your .dat files for the league. http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...06#post1875606 My first thought is that since this league was created before the 1.03 patch that may be causing the issue. Unfortunately, if that is the case then there is nothing that can be done. I have never seen this with a league created with 1.03. However, I would still like to take a look at your league files and see if anything sticks out. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Would you be able to upload the news directory and everything within that, player histories etc.? That will help with this one. I was just poking around in the league and nothing in the setup seems strange, but I would like to have access to the player histories, if possible. Thanks.

I can't recreate this problem

I have tried a ton of different drafts and even simmed ahead with your league to the next draft. Is this something you can reproduce? If so, please post the exact steps so I can try again. Obviously I can see from your screenshots that this did indeed happen, but it will be more beneficial if we can find a way to reproduce this. Thanks.

Thanks for the help Goodsox. I'll try to recreate it in my next draft. As best I can recall, during the last draft I had scouted the draft with two or three different scouts. Then, on draft day, I would click the Scout Recommended button and it would pop up a certain player in the draft window and I would select that player. I first noticed the issue when I recognized the scout recommended player was often the same, even after I had already drafted him. It seemed like the rookie draft pool database wasn't being updated in real-time to reflect a particular player was drafted. As best I can tell, this only happened with the players I drafted, not with players on any other teams. I'm about three-quarters through the next season so I can give you an update and new league files in a bit.

Hi Goodsox. Unfortunately, in the next year's draft the same problem happened. Players that I would draft were not being flagged in the database and other teams would draft them later in the draft. I was hoping this was a limited issue to that one draft year, but it seems that as long as I play this league this problem is going to keep happening.

Let me know if you want me to put up some screenshots again.
