Dead man walkin'
Injuries are still a little off, hopefully they'll take a step forward in 2007... but in the mean time here's a little fun....
All of this is the same player: 4/30 strained rib cage muscle, day to day 1-2 weeks 5/10 strained anterior cruciate ligament, day to day 2 months 5/17 herniated disc, day to day 2-3 months 5/18 torn back muscle, day to day 11 months 8/1 fractured ankle, day to day 8-9 months 8/14 ruptured achilles tendon, day to day 8-9 months 8/29 fractured elbow, day to day 8 months 9/17 torn calf muscle, day to day 8 months 9/26 fractured hip, day to day 8 months 10/10 torn hamstring muscle, day to day 7-8 months So let me see here... right now on 10/31 this guy has a torn hamstring, a torn calf, a torn back muscle, a ruptured achilles, a fractured hip, a fractured elbow, and a fractured ankle. And he played on 10/30, going 3 for 3 with a double and HR to win the World Series for me.... I don't know about you guys... but Cal Ripken and Lou Gehrig suck compared to this iron man. At some point ya just gotta figure he'd give it up... At some point my doctor really should have said "Ya know, this guy doesn't have a healthy bone left in his body right now". The best I figure is the first injury was under my threshhold and I wasn't alerted and the rest piled up on top... I never got a message that this guy ripped every muscle and fractured every bone in his body. My threshhold is set at 20%... some of those should have been well more than 20%, but who knows.Obviously he played right through every one of those injuries... it wasn't very good and he will pay the price, dropping from 20/16/12 to 12/9/5... but he did end the season with 577 ABs, .321 AVG, .586 SLG, 41 doubles, 5 triples, and 34 HRs. Not a bad season for a guy who began falling apart in May.

In that same season my 1B carried a .420 batting average into September... finally finished the year hitting exactly .400 (first time ever in OOTP I've seen a .400 performance)... so I stayed up well past the time I should have gone to bed to see how it'd turn out. I was so tired I didn't think to cut and paste, I typed it all in by hand. ![]() ![]()

Strained Anterior Cruciate Ligament Torn Back Muscle Fractured Ankle Ruptured Achilles Tendon Fractured Elbow Torn Calf Muscle Fractured Hip Torn Hamstring Muscle No wonder this guy had major ability drops, he had 8 serious (6 possible season ending type) injuries in the same season. He never gained full health back from his strained rib cage muscle (which is listed as 8% DTD), and at some point for the herniated disc which is listed as 30% DTD. So it left him listed as day to day, though he should have been unable to continue after the anterior cruciate injury (and any of the other 7), and applied the hit to abilities for the injuries. He's sitting at 11% DTD right now. I'd say that's a bug.
