Game Incorrectly Scores Unearned Run

Here was my situation:
2 outs, runners on 1st and 2nd. My batter singled to LF to drive home the game-winning run. The ball skipped past the LF for an error. The game credited the batter with an RBI, but the P was given an unearned run. As far as I know, there is no way this can take place. It's really up to the official scorer to determine whether the base hit would have driven home the run in lieu of the error. Obviously, he must have felt the batter had done his job and the run would have scored, thus giving him the RBI, which I was very surprised to see, but then the P must be charged with an earned run by that logic.

EDIT: Just for clarification, I should say that this play happened in the bottom of the 8th inning. Even though it was the eventual game winner, the game did not end right there.
