2657 - Does writing the game re-cap take forever?

Or is it just my machine.

It seems like the program takes seconds to log each letter typed when I'm trying to write a game recap. This is similar to when you change the name of a league. I have not noticed this when changing the name of a team however. Odd.

I'm wondering if somehow the program is logging my entries as I go instead of waiting till I'm finished and doing it all at once.

BTW - I'm running OSX on a dual 867 with boatloads of RAM. Everything else runs perfectly smooth.

Tell me a little more detail. Do you have any delays when you type the headline?

Then when you tab to the body of the story and click in the text box, are you talking about the delay at that time? Sometimes you have to make sure that you have clicked in the text box and really have the cursor there before typing.

Otherwise, though, I've not seen any kind of delay in testing. But I have seen some quirkiness in getting it to start typing when you jump to the body text.

Interestingly, no delays on the headline.

The delay is all in the text box. And it's not just on, say, the first word or so. It continues until I'm finished typing. If I type too fast, it misses letters. I would say it's roughly one second per letter on my machine.

Again, this is very similar to the delay when changing the league name in the league setup menu. I don't know if that helps you any.

It's not your machine, I logged this as TT 2657 during beta. Hopefully this will be fixed in the first patch. It happens elsewhere too (like editing player history, for instance).

Note that you can write the recap in notepad, and cut and paste it into OOTP as a workaround.

Ahh... great. I was gonna try that tonight. I love this feature and it'd be a shame not to use it until a patch comes out. That sorta loses the whole point of writing my own recaps.

I had this issue too, and it was very frustrating to someone who types 70 WPM or so and had to keep waiting for the sentence to complete. I absolutely love this feature and I hope this gets fixed!!!

The cut and paste method does work but it's a little labor intensive since full screen mode is difficult to get in and out of in the Mac version. For now I'll just resign myself to writing headlines only until the patch fixes this.

Why not use windowed mode?

I don't know, for some reason I really like full screen mode. I don't want to be reminded of real life unread emails and things while I'm trying to manage my imaginary employees.

Command-tab gets you out and back into the game in full screen mode pretty painlessly.
