AI mismanaging minors with ghost players?

Reposting from the general forum at battists' request...

I'm playing a historical league based on a 1968 GAMBO import. I've got it set to have the AI manage my minor league teams and handle the minor league transactions (moving guys between levels). I've got 3 levels of minor leagues (AAA/AA/A) and ghost players enabled. Each year imported players are placed on their actual teams (amateur draft is turned off.)

I'm finding that the AI is badly mismanaging the minor leagues and it seems to be causing my minor leaguers to get injured more often than they should.

Take a look at my AA team:

Nearly everyone is tired - and not just a little, they're at 0% rest.

It seems the AI doesn't sub in for my players when they get tired so they play and play until they finally get hurt.

As I understand it the AI should sub in a "ghost" player when the actual player is too tired to take the field.

Even if I take control of setting their lineups I don't see a way to sub in for the starter when they're tired if the sub is to be a "ghost" player.

Is there a setting I'm missing?

I've found that hurt players often tend to suffer talent drops and I really don't want to ruin Frank White.

Reposting my post also...

I've noticed the same thing, although i'm playing a fictional league. Ghost players on, minor transaction handled by the minor league AI. My guys that dont have a backup or sub get totally exhausted, 0%, and get hurt.

First question... Is this with the latest patch?
Second question...Are you noticing this with all teams and not just yours?

I'm going to run a test on this as well.

This is with the patch.

I checked the Atlanta and Baltimore minor league systems:

Looks like it's every team.

On first look, I see there are indeed injuries, but those are more tied to your injury settings, which I've always thought at "average", were just a bit high. I also notice plenty of players in your screenshot that are well rested. Then I'm wondering about the ratio of exhausted players/rested players at the Major League level and whether it's any different than that of minor leagues here.

From my first test I've just done with a simple Lahman import of 1968, with 3 levels of minor leagues and ghost players, I noticed an acceptable number of tired players and a mix of rested players that seemed nothing alarming. However, I don't have numbers yet, but I plan to do a comparision between ML and Major Leagues.

I believe the injuries are due to tired players playing.

Should ANY player ever play when he's at "0% - Exhausted" rest status?

Look at the AA team in that second screenshot - five of eight position players are tired - and all of those players are at 0%.

I ran the numbers on my test league, unfortunately I don't have as many players in the minors as you do but it seems that the numbers are as follows:

All defaults, removing pitchers from the numbers here because pithcers are managed differently and according to rotations and role, I checked the number of players listed as "tired", regardless of %, and compared the ratio of tired/rested players between the Major league level and the minor leagues. I ran this in the middle of the season right up until there was a scheduled day off to ensure the best chance that every team would have been playing up until the time I took the numbers:

Percentage of players:
Major Leagues - 1.8% tired, 1% injured, 97% rested
Minor Leagues - 30% tired, 0% injured, 70% rested

Also no position players showed as 0% as seems to be the case with your league. Do you think you could post your file somewhere that can take a look at it? If something is indeed a bug, I'll be able to pass it on to Markus.

By the way, I will be logging that "30%" as a bug. That is definitely not in line with the parent league's ratios.

Logged that as TT#3344. Markus should be able to fix this as that 30% sticks out like a sore thumb.

Do you see your 0% guys ever "untire". I've called a few up and they've stayed 0%....

i've just traded for a guy and he had 0% on his rest status.. i wasn't worried because surely a bit of rest will fix that.. however, 3 weeks on and he still has 0% rest status so i've come on here to see what i could find

like the quote, 'Do you see your 0% guys ever "untire".'

cheers..
