Opening day during spring training

I didn't see a thread on this, but I might have missed it. I am playing a historical league that automatically updates everything each year. I have noticed that in a couple of years, opening day would be set to occur during spring training. The stats don't seem to get counted or anything, but it isn't quite right. I'm attaching a screen from 2003 as an example. As you can see, the game has it set as regular season even though there are 2 spring training games remaining. The season doesn't begin until the next week.

To update this a bit, I came across it again. Here is a screen shot of the league's scores & schedule screen. Note the mix of spring training and regular season games.

Also, the game is allowing me to have 40-man rosters at this point still, so I can play in official games with extra players.

This was marked as something to consider for the next full release of the game.
