Problem with champion determination with no playoffs

I running a 19th century simulation, and though it's been stated the game engine was not designed for the league volatility that you encounter in the 19th c., I think that OOTP2007 handles things pretty well. But I have found one problem which potentially is a large problem for me.

In 1873, the Marylands played only 6 games, but won 5 of them. You see in the standings, things are as expected, the Athletics are on top:

The problem is that in the Championship determination, the Marylands are picked as the winning the Championship. I would guess that it is picking based on winning percentage in this case, and not position in the standings.

Any chance of getting this determination changed to position in the standings rather than winning percentage? In the case of an equal number of games, the results should be the same. But in cases like this, determining the championship based on position in standings would make more sense.

Right now, if I advance my league to 1874, the Marylands get credit for the championship, which is rather depressing.

Logged it as TT# 3503. I asked that champions be determined by placing in the standings instead of winning %.

To muddy the waters slightly, according to Retrosheet, up until 1883, it wasn't winning percentage or games behind which determined the champion, but rather the number of wins.

Here's how the actual 1872 NA final standings look as a result:

Code:
                           G W L T PCT GB
Boston Red Stockings 48 39 8 1 .830 -
Baltimore Canaries 58 35 19 4 .648 7.5
New York Mutuals 56 34 20 2 .630 8.5
Philadelphia Athletics 47 30 14 3 .682 7.5
Troy Haymakers 25 15 10 0 .600 13.0
Brooklyn Atlantics 37 9 28 0 .243 25.0
Cleveland Forest Citys 22 6 16 0 .273 20.5
Middletown Mansfields 24 5 19 0 .208 22.5
Brooklyn Eckfords 29 3 26 0 .103 27.0
Washington Olympics 9 2 7 0 .222 18.0
Washington Nationals 11 0 11 0 .000 21.0
The Philadelphia Athletics, who by modern standards would be considered the second place team, are the fourth place team due to having the fourth highest number of wins.

You're correct, of course. But even in the confused world of the National Association, no one would consider the 1873 Marylands champions for winning 5 of 6 games.

Anyone know if this issue was fixed in the patch?

Thanks.
