Visual C++ error

I have just recently purchased this game and while I am very pleased with the game, I have ran into one hitch when it comes to playing. I have created a test simulation league of sorts to learn the inns and out of how to create a league before I start indulging in my own dynastical ambitions. So I proceeded to create the league and simmed for about 10 years. The next day I woke up to find an error message in the middle of my second 10 year simulation which gave me no choice but to terminate the game. It read
Microsoft Visual C++ RunTime Library

Runtime error!

Program:\...files\Sports Interactive\OOTP Baseball 2007\OOTP2007.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information.

This did not stop me however so I attempted to simulate again but recieved the error within 6 months. I then proceeded to try simulating about 3 months, which succeeded error free, however when I attmepted to save I recieved the same message when the save was culminating. Then I reloaded and attempted to salvage this by joining one of the teams and trying to get some tangible experience on how the league was run. Yet again I was foiled, though, as when the game just about finished loading the teams scouting reports I recieved the same error.

From what i have in a quick perusal of your error forums, I am not the only one that has had this problem occur to them. I also found it interesting that this problem occurred to people that were simulating long term. There was one other prevalent feature noticable to me, in that one of the other people was running a rather large number of leagues/teams. My Pc is running windows XP, i have no memory shortage (2gigs) and plenty of disk (300gigs) space, im using directx 9.0c, my graphics card is a NVIDIA GEforce 6800. This is all i the data i could supply to help solve my quandry, sorry abou the lack of brevity of my post.

previous examples of error from forums:
3192 - Crash - Anyone ever seen this?
Game crashing when saving or backing up imported OOTP 2006 game
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error when attempting to start saved league/new league/quickstarts

Thank you, for your time and effort in trying to solve this error and make this experience for me even greater.

At least one of the threads you linked mentioned a virus scanner. Are you running one? If so, the first thing to try is either disabling the virus scanner or making sure it ignores the OOTP directories.

anti-virus software

I turned off my anti-virus software, bit defender, alas it failed to effect any change on the error. Are there anymore suggestions?

oh well, sorry we can't help you... face it, you paid for program/game that is not fully functional. I hope there is one helluva patch for all this. Ohh yeah, I paid for the right to complain.
In all honesty, I'm sure they are trying and one remedy leads to another bug and at some point this could be a good program, soon I hope.

First, ignore the post directly above mine.

It sounds like that file could be corrupt if you can't even get through a year now. I would try to start a new test fictional league and see what happens with your test. If you do an overnighter again turn off your anti-virus. I know many beta testers ran overnight sims without incident so something must be interfering. Your system specs sound like they are more than adequate for OOTP.

One side note - have you had any facegen issues? It is a good idea to make sure you have the newest driver for your video card installed.

Error

Well thank you for your input. I am going to proceed with starting a new league now due to my inability to go forward in the forementioned one. It does not seem that there is much knowledge about the problem. I hope, however, that in the next patch someone might look into fixing this or give the community some information about it. I think I can speak for many people when a lot of time is put into creating leagues and the last thing I would want is for anything to happen to it that would permanently damage it. Almost a proverbial child, except for a baseball sim game.

facegen

Sorry, almost overlooked your post. The possiblity of facegen in using visual C++ causing the error. To be honest though, I am not a computer expert and am not very aware of what visual C++ does. In all probability, it does have something to do with the error. I am going to tinker with this tonight by turning off facegen, hopefully this will seize the horns for this problem. Thank you for the input.

Save a template from the league file before you delete it (if you delete it). You can create a new league with it if needed.
