Re-importing injuries.txt bug?

On a Mac, using the latest patch:

I'm not sure that the re-import injuries.txt works correctly. As a test, I started a league with the standard injuries.txt file. I then modified injuries.txt by erasing almost all injuries, leaving only two serious ones with new names. I reimported the injury database from game setup, simmed, and I still get the full gamut of injuries that were in the original injuries.txt, along with some of the new injuries from my modified injuries.txt.

When I start a league from scratch with the modified injuries.txt file, everything works as expected; I only get injuries from my modified file. My best guess is that re-importing injuries.txt adds injuries to the database made on game creation, but does not delete the existing database.

As a side note, there was a workaround in 2006 if one wanted to change the injuries database in the middle of a game; one could create a new injuries.dat file by starting a new game with a new injuries.txt file, and then copy this injuries.dat to the folder of any saved game, thus replacing the saved game's injury database. Is there a way to use this workaround in '07? I can't seem to find an injuries.dat file.

I don't know about any workarounds, but I've logged the issue with not being able to remove old injury types as TT 3630.

Apologies, I had forgotten that this issue was logged. A very useful discussion with 1998Yankees and Zeyes in General about issues with injuries led to a complete diagnosis of the issue:

-the re-import injury database button doesn't work as intended;

-however, the button is completely unnecessary. The game now works straight from the injuries.txt file (there is no separate injury database), so to 'reimport injury database', all you need to do is replace the injuries.txt text file with a new version, and reload a game. By doing this, the injury 'database' is correctly and successfully reimported.

as Zeyes describes in post 24:
Injuries in OOTP

Because of this, I think the button should be removed (it doesn't work and isn't necessary), and the Customization section of the manual should explain how to reimport a new injuries file. Luckily, it's much easier now than in 2006, but it isn't explained correctly to the game player. This would be a very simple solution to the issue.

I've just retested to prove the 'Reimport injury database' button doesn't work; screenshot below. I was using the standard injuries file at first (with some lines slightly modified). I then, on Sept 3, reimported, using a test file I generated with only letter names for injuries ('A', 'AA', etc....). As you can see, in the week following I'm getting both normal injuries and the generic letter injuries after using the 'reimport injury database' button. I've also attached the injuries.txt file I reimported with the generic injuries in it, in case it's helpful. At the least, you can see there are no normal injuries in the new version of injuries.txt.

This has been marked as something to add in the next full release of the game.
