Pitcher injured in middle of inning
From experience, I am convinced that the game is not programmed to automatically consider pitchers that enter the game in relief of an injured pitcher in the middle of an inning "warmed up," and this is a terrible omission of the game. In real life, any pitcher that comes in in relief of one that was injured, is allowed as much time as needed for him to get warmed up. However, in OOTP2007, we are forced to just throw in a cold reliever and have him get hammered around until someone else is warmed and ready to go. I implore you people to fix this. I don't think I really need to explain/enumerate the potential ratifications that can occur depending on the game situation that an injury occurs in.

This is something that'll have to be commented on directly by Markus, as there's pretty much no way you could ever test it. The fact that a pitcher might get hammered a few times when coming in in place of an injured pitcher means relatively little, as plenty of relievers also get hammered when they come in warmed up.

I don't see where you've indicated it, if you have, but are you playing with the Warmup Rule on or off?

Waninski, is this based upon personal experience or speculation? Do you have any data to back this up? Are these comments the results of reading box scores or playing out games?
As far as I know, the game always currently crashes when a pitcher gets injured when playing out a game, and the AI ignores the need to warm up pitchers entirely. I could very well be mistaken on either of these counts, but I'm not exactly sure how you would even experience this situation. |

This comes from my experience of having a pitcher injured in the middle of a game I am playing out. I play out all of my games, for the record. It has happened three times now. Interestingly enough, it just happened in the game I am currently playing, which is what reminded me to check this thread. In each instance, I have noticed that the pitchers are throwing 3-5 MPH below what they should be throwing, which indicates either a) a tired arm, or what I would have to assume in this case to be a b) cold arm. In the first two instances, my relief pitchers who came in got absolutely crushed until I could get someone else warmed. In this third instance, my P has gotten through 1.1 IP of perfect ball, though, as I hav stated, his velocity is well below normal, and I'm afraid to go any further with him. For all practical matters of reality, I would hope that this game would increase the risk of injury for any P who is just thrown into a game completely cold, as it can be a great strain on any arm to heat it up without proper warm up.
