Uneven Structure resulting in strange playoffs.
In my last game I place league A with 3 divisions + wildcard, and league B with divisions + wildcard.
So in theory, there should have been a DCS for both leagues, a LCS and a World Series, but it seems the game instead of taking the division winners + 2 highest remaining teams from league B took the teams with the two highest records from league B resulting in this odd structure: Round One---Round Two---Round Three---Winnner Team AA Team AD____Team AA_________________Team AA Team AB____Team AC Team AC Team BA Team BB Last edited by Hazza; 06-07-2007 at 09:52 PM. |

I am very interested in this thread...but, I am confused by the description.
However, I am interested since I have a similar set up in a fictional league I am going to be starting soon.

Well, the game doesn't allow you to create leagues where the two subleagues have differing numbers of divisions, at least not during league creation. You can still do it by editing the league structure afterwards, but I don't think this kind of thing is supposed to be supported by the game.
At any rate, if I understood the OP correctly he had 3 divisions in one subleague and 2 in the other. I've just tried that, and sure enough the playoffs are messed up. The 2-division league picked only two playoff participants, and they're the winner of the first division, and the announced wildcard winner (the second-place team from the second division), with the second-division winner being ignored altogether. That's obviously wrong, but again, I don't think it's meant to be supported to begin with. |

The game does actually let you set up different numbers of divisions per subleague. It's actually pretty straightforward to do. I think this is a known issue, though. I've never been able to get any version of OOTP to be able to deal with a different number of divisions.
Perhaps in the future it would be good to be able to decide on a playoff structure for each subleague, then choose whether they will compete in a world series as a separate selection.
