Almanac Won't Open

I saw a discussion of this same problem in the New To The Game forum, but no solution so I thought I would post here. I am using a Mac with the current (2nd) patch installed and I have moved ahead a few days after the almanac was created.

The program appears to have created the almanac on Dec 31 as per my settings. There is an "Almanac 2007" folder in my saved_game/xxx.lg/news folder with 1000's of files in various subfolders, e.g., Box Scores, Coaches, etc. I can open these files individually with my browser if I double click them. However, when I go to the Game Menu and select Almanac 2007, nothing happens.

One thing I noticed which looks funny is that there is a subfolder named "History" in the Almanac folder which contains no files. All the other subfolders contain numerous files. Why would the program create a History folder and not put in files in it? Have any Mac users been able to get the almanac to work and if so are there any file(s) in your History subfolder?

Any help will be appreciated..

Why problem not logged with TT #?

I am wondering why this problem was not logged with a tracking number? I think I followed the directions for posting bug problems. To me it is a bug when one element of the program won't work. Also, what sounds like the same problem was posted by another user at Can't open almanac
with no solution that I could find.

Maybe I don't understand how the technical support system works. I would appreciate any advice on how to possibly find a solution to this problem. Or maybe the almanac isn't designed to work on a Mac.

Rebel,

You've done everything right here, it's us that's behind the eight ball. We're very sorry about that!

It sounds like somehow - through a bug, or perhaps through some settings you changed - not all of the necessary HTML files were created for the almanac.

Can you please tell me, in the ROOT of the almanac2007 folder you mentioned, are there any files? Specifically, I'm interested in a file called index.html.

If this file isn't there, try this as a workaround:

1. In game, go to the league menu, select History, and then click on the SION Home link.

2. Outside of the game, navigate to the news\html folder and find the index.html file.

3. Copy that file, and paste it into the Almanac2007 folder

4. Try to access the Almanac in-game and let me know what happens.

On top of this, can you please tell me:

a. What is the date in the game now? Have you simmed past it, or is it still jan 1?

b. Can you provide me with what specific options you selected for the almanac?

Thanks!

Steve

Steve,

In the root of the Almanac 2007 folder there is a file named "index.html". If I double click the file, it opens what looks like the SCION home page, except in my browser. From there, if I select "League Home" I get the league home page as of 12/31/07 and can access last year's data, box scores, etc., which is what I was hoping the almanac would do.

I'm assuming the index.html file is supposed to open when Almanac 2007 is selected from the game menu, but that isn't happening. So I guess the only glitch is that I have to open the file directly. (I've created an alias for the file on my desktop, so it's really a very minor issue at this point.)

FYI, I tried it with Safari and Firefox set as default browsers. I don't have IE on my computer so maybe that's an issue.

To answer your last 2 questions, I have simmed into the next season and I have the "Archive HTML reports annually" and the "Standard Profile complete alamac" options selected.

Thanks for your help.

Rebel,

I definitely think you've found a bug. I've logged it as TT 3842. In the mean time, we do appear to have a workaround.

So, thanks very much!
