Lightbulb BZ 1530: Sound Suggestons for the Next Patch

Here are some impressions of the sound elements, and some suggestions for the next patch...

1. Spectators are too quick to cheer (Please tone it down)
2. Spectators are too quick to boo (They aren't really that cruel)
3. Love the organ music (more please)
4. Like the "charge" trumpet (but a little less often in an inning please)
5. "Out" & "safe" sounds are out of synch with PBP
6. Hate the heavy metal music (More ambience at the ballpark, less frenzy)
7. Crowd sound stays on after game during box score display (irritating after a big play)
8. One crowd sound is about 4 times louder than everything else (nearly blew out my speakers)
9. BIGGEST COMPLAINT: Too much variation in sound volume (neighbors complaining)
10. BOTTOM LINE: Like the last version's PBP, sound is too histrionic. Tone things down a bit. Watching a baseball game is supposed to be a pleasant, relaxing, & laid back experience - Lets have more of that in the sound.

I endorse all of the above, and would especially like to cast my aesthetic vote for #3 and #6.

I would also add the following:

11. The most out-of-sync sound on my machine comes when I pick a runner off base. The cheer from my home crowd goes up way before the PbP announces the result of the play.

Agree with everything from the original post. If possible a rendition of "take me out to the ballgame" for the 7th inning stretch and something like "centerfield" or "talkin baseball" before the game, perhaps in lineup screen, would be great.

another POV

I'll admit I have only played a couple of games so I don't have much experience yet.

But I hardly feel that the crowd noise is histrionic. In fact, I was surprised there wasn't more cheering. The loudest hurrahs I got were when the home team made a great defensive play. These plays certainly get a loud cheer in MLB parks, but nothing compared to runs scored, especially on a extra base hit. If anything, I'd say the OOTP sound effects are too laid back. I kept wondering if maybe there are louder effects reserved for the playoffs? I don't know, I haven't made it that far. And I am not bothered at all by supposedly "out of sync" fan reaction to the play by play. This is entirely realistic, actually, since no announcer could possibly react and call instantly plays on the field.

I agree that more organ is called for. And a "take me out to the ballgame" is desperately needed if it doesn't already exist.

But please don't ever be tempted to go the Madden route with canned quotes from announcers that are then repeated over and over and over....

After you've played more games, you may understand what I meant - and why the others agree.

Sounds Need Fixing: Ambermonk Is Exactly Correct!

Ambermonk is exactly correct about the sounds.

Every point he makes is on my list, especially: #3 and #8. Most especially #8, the one crowd sound loop is WAY too loud! Also, that same crowd loop does not fade in or out, it "jumps" way up and down! Highly annoying!

In addition, highandoutside is also right: need to add "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" and his other suggested music.

Please, please fix these in the next patch.

Another sound that I have heard at games is some kind of Hispanic trumpet music that starts slow & gets faster & faster. It sounds very familiar but I don't know the name of the piece. Would love to have that in the game also.
