BZ 1394: Trading Difficulty
So I tried to dump Corey Patterson on the Blue Jays the other day, and just for the fun of it, I stuck Vernon Wells on the other side. Of course, I was denied, and I hit "make this work now." I got a short list which included Jay Burce and Edinson Volquez. Gee, ya think?
So far so good, so then I started messing around with adding cash. I added a million to the deal, and the Blue Jays said yes. As bad as that is, what happened next is worse. I kept lowering the cash amount, all the way to one dollar. Guess what? Toronto took the deal every time. So how exactly would that negotiation go: Walt Jocketty: Um, we'll give you Corey Patterson for Vernon Wells. JP Riccardi: No way hoser! Walt: Okay, we'll throw in $1 (American). JP: Whoa, dude, that's like almost $1.50 (Canadian)! We'll do it! And yeah, I know OOTP doesn't know names. So, for all the fictional fanboys: Patterson = outfielder who sucks Wells = solid outfielder who makes half what Patterson makes Bruce, Volquez = stud prospects So, is trading broke, then, eh? Or are the Blue Jays just programmed to be that stupid? |

This is a known problem that the power that is HE knows about as it has been Bugzilled to death. I am sure a fix is forthcoming.
By the way, I used this undocumented enhancement to add in their primes Lou Gehrig and Walter Johnson to the 1990's Mariners and won 7 pennants in a row! Total cost $2 and 2 lousy bench players. |

Hmmm...So then the whole concept of adding cash to a trade is worthless, right? Because if I know I can always just add a dollar to make things work, then how can I negotiate with another GM? Did that function ever work, or has it somehow been missed in testing?
