BZ 1782: Volume of In-Game Sound Jumps Drastically
I haven't seen much discussion about this, but the game still has some pretty annoying issues that cause the sound levels to increase 3x to 4x their normal levels. This is not just the normal increases from the crowd cheering or booing either.
I noticed when it occurs, the game usually freezes for about 3-5 seconds (you can hear the Hard Drive spinning furiously), then, as soon as it (un)freezes, the sound jumps several levels. Going into the sound options and disabling then enabling it again fixes it. But it can happen four, five, or more times during the coarse of the game. I'm really hoping this will be patched in the final patch since it wasn't addressed in the first two. Last edited by edm; 07-20-2008 at 01:43 AM. |

I also don't use FaceGen for fear of my game crashing. It would be cool if I could use both these features though. I hope the "Save Game" crashes will be fixed, but I haven't really seen any responses to this problem, other than "Please patch to version 9.1.2", which I didn't have any crashes till I did patch to 9.1.2. |

The initial release of 9.1.2 that was up for about a day or so caused some issues. Reinstalling will fix many of those problems. If that does not solve your problems, please post in your thread that is related to those issues so that we can continue to work with them there: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...1-2-patch.html |

Also, I posted in this thread because this guy was posting about the sound problems. You said you weren't aware of any sound problems. I posted because I was having sound problems too verifing there are problems for some people. I mentioned the "save game crash" problems too trying to get an answer weather or not that issue was logged. When you pay for your copy of the game, I think I have a legit excuse to try to get my copy of the game to work. Thanks. Last edited by kckid4u; 07-20-2008 at 03:30 PM. |

Yes. I personally have logged four iterations of various issues involving corrupted saved games. One has been claimed fixed.
I have no problem discussing any of your issues, but it makes it exceedingly difficult for us to organize our troubleshooting if it is spread between many different threads. If you have corrupted data files to upload or more information to share regarding the saved game crash, then please post it in your other thread. As soon as I hear anything regarding the status of saved game crash fixes, you will see me post in the Logged Issues forum. Now, let's get back to sound issues here please. Are there any situations wherein you guys don't have these problems? Did any previous versions of OOTP9 not give you these problems? |

Never left the sound issues.
![]() Ok, for me, the problem is a big boost in volume during a game at certain times. It goes so loud I have to turn down my speakers. It appears to me, it happens when there is a player up to bat that is a fairly good player and has a chance to do something. (Example: Runners on base and has a chance to drive in some runners. Or maybe a good player coming to the plate at home.) It doesn't seem to be a problem with the sound files themselves, but seems to be hard coded in the program. It's very frustrating though. I have to keep adjusting my speakers so I can hear it, then turn it down again so as to not wake the whole house. Over and over again. |

I can recall only once hearing the sound "jump" louder. But it did not require turning the speaker volume down and, as I recall, it went back to normal after a couple of pitches. I have, however, noticed that I never hear the ooh1.wav and ooh3.wav files in game. I BZ'd this problem (if, as I suspect, it is a problem).

There are times when the fans become louder, and that's not a problem. But sometimes, it becomes very loud, where I have to turn down the speakers. I am surprised this doesn't happen with most everyone. Maybe it's a sound card issue that just some of us are having, I don't know.
I have a Realtek High Definition card. (I did just check for any updated drivers, and it did find one and have installed it. I'll play out a game when my season starts again. I'm in the off season now, but will come back and let you know it it occurs with these new drivers installed.) |

Most of the time it's just an annoyance, like in the clip below. But other times the sound volume jumps A LOT. To the point where I need to lower the speaker volume.
I just played a game with simulating world in the background disabled, but it still occurred. I'm using a Audigy 2 platinum with XP pro. All my drivers are up to date. Here's a quick 15 sec clip from my last game. This is mild compared to some of the increases, but you can hear the sound jump up and down a couple times. http://www.edfick.com/ootp/ootpsoundbug.mp3 |

I too was having that problem until I downloaded edm's sound files and now don't have it anymore. And I am running Audigy 4 soundcard. Sounds kind of like maybe it could be a problem with the audigy sounds cards, or maybe just us using one have posted a reply here.
Anyway, there was a tremedous boost in the sound and I would have to keep changing the volume....
