Post BZ 1808: Crash --> player file corrupt

I had been playing OOTP9 happily for a couple weeks, was into my 5th season with a franchise, when during exiting (and the auto-save that accompanies it), the game crashed.

Now, the player file is corrupt and I can no longer load my league.

Any help would be appreciated. I am a professional software engineer, so bring on the technical details, I am not afraid.

I realize that at this point, even if I restore the player file, things are probably out of sync anyways; but I'd at least like to get into the game and see where things are at.

As a side question, is there an auto-save that gets created separately that I can fall back on?

Thanks,

jpf

Hello. This same problem has been the subject of many threads. The only positive comment that I recall is that Markus is aware of it and you assume is working on why the auto save corrupts files. It's not always the player file but it is always some .dat file. Keeping my fingers crossed.

If you backed up then the dat files from the backup should be ok. Obviously the date of the game would go back. Sorry I can't help with anything else.

Yeah i figured there was not much that could be done.

To be clear though, as regards previous poster, my issue isn't that the auto-save corrupted a file, it's that the game crashed while saving on exit, in the middle of writing a file. That action (not surprisingly) led to a corrupted data file.

Could you please FTP us a zipped copy of your .dat files and let us know the filename per the following instructions:

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...-files-us.html

If the game itself caused the crash, there might be a clue in the files.

Sorry, but Markus states that this saved game has been damaged beyond recovery.
