BZ 1839: Waiver Issue in No Service Time League

Logging this here until I know what to do with it in BZ.

Brand new league under 9.1.6 and it's my traditional Clean Slate league, i.e. no service time or histories for any players. They all effectively start as rookies with all options remaining.

So, maybe it's me, why do I find a player on the waiver wire Jan 02, when I haven't even finished the day of the Inaugural draft? It's not my player, but it will be once my claim goes through. He was on the long version of my shortlist during the draft, so I'd be crazy not to pick him up now, for whatever reason he's available (or the one I create to explain it ).

But the fact remains, he shouldn't be there. Should he? Why wouldn't the AI have simply sent him to one of their minor affiliates if he didn't fit into the active roster?

Before you log it, double check whether or not he had a major league contract for some reason. Also, double check to see if the AI had entirely filled its 40-man roster, then waived this guy so that they could put someone else on it.

You raised a good point, and I did check it out. He had a minor league contract and all 40-man's - with the exception of my own - only have 25 players prior to ST. There's no logic I can see that merits him showing up on the waiver wire both in terms service time and status, not to mention his quality. I'll log this one later tonight if I don't hear of any reason not to do so.
