Uniform question for experts (I guess)

For my fictional league I had Bobble make me uniforms. With BagOHeads and blueturfs faces I now give special players faces (with the uniform of the team they play with). I do all this with Adobe Photoshop.
The problems is that to appear in the games the pictures/photos have to be in bmp format.

My question is how can I just change the uniform of the player but not his face in case he gets traded or signs with a different team?

Thanks

You could probably save a version in PSP format that can be easily changes and a version in BMP format for the game.

Hmmm, that would be a possibility. Thanks. But to be honest I had hoped that there would be a way to transform the bmp file into a psp file.

Well, PSP can open BMP files, but all the layers get blown away when the file is saved as a BMP in the first place.

Damn....the problems is I have saved all the 150 faces I done have so far just in bmp.

It would have just been great to change the uniform somehow. So what I have to do now after I have done the face/uniform in Photoshop is to save it first as psp and next as bmp, right?

Or you can just save them all as Photoshop or PSP files and convert them in bulk using Irfanview - then just archive the PSD or PSP files, and change them when you need to change them.

In theory, if you're just working from templates anyway, you can just copy and paste the changed layers (with a transparent hole where the face would be) onto the BMP.

I'm just working with template- so I'll give that a try. If it doesn't work I'll do it like you suggested before. Thanks.

Also if you are changing just the uniform then you could take the bmp file that has the player in his uniform and just overlay the uni over the old uni. The face is underneath all the uniform layers anyway. The only issue would be with the backgrounds and this can be erased with a good graphics program. I use psp 9.0 and it has tools to do this pretty easily....

If you download the link in my signature, I explain how to do this.

Good luck, I am sure Bobble made a nice set of unis.

Whadda ya mean you don't do it? I just did it and I'm ready to do it again!

Here's what I do. I create what I'll call a team file. It's a PSP file that has got the uniform layers and a layer for each face I use with that uniform. Then using that, I just save as a .bmp for each .bmp I need. You don't need a seperate PSP file for each person, just each uni.

If you've used the bags of heads, then the heads are easily accessable. It shouldn't take too long to recreate the guys with new unis.

I do something very similar. Each uniform(shirt, hat, logo) is a different layer within the PSD file and I activate the appropriate team and then save as a .bmp for the player. I currently keep all the heads (about 250) and uniforms in one Photoshop file but at 23MB it is starting to get fairly large

I'd go with what Blueturf said, it is the easiest way.

First of all thanks for all your help. The problem about the players I already made is that I loaded the teams uniform and any of bag of heads. I the copy the face I want into the uniform layer and save the "new" uniform-face picture as a bmp file. Next I delete this face from the bag of heads file, so that I won't use this face again.

Blueturf- I'll try what you did. Let's see I can get al these faces and uniforms in one psd file- if not you're going to hear from me soon.

I have PaintShop Pro 9.0 and it works fine. Doesn't work with PaintShop Pro 7.0 though.... 7.0 has a limit to the number of layers....
