Gambo Ankit 3.75 Released
(3.90 is available. It's is a fixed up version of 3.75)
Hey guys, i've updated my database with the proper debut years for the 2003and 2004 season. I've fixed some of the errors in the 3.5 version and changed a bunch of names so that there are no duplicate named players. (This will make it easier dealing with photos in a long replay) This isn't quite a new release but rather just an update. I want to add a few things before I come out with my 4th version. If you want to host it just send me the link to email it to.... For those who dont know what the database is it's a career average database combination of mine and Ankits work which has players debut when they made their first professional appearance with estimated abilities for their level at that time. Great! I'd not only like to host it, but I'd like to use it myself. Could you email it to fidel@montoyahome.com and I'll make it available at www.allsimbaseball.com
Thanks Gambo!!

If I want to start a league with real life career stats then I actually can not use this file without doing a bunch of cut and pasting from Lahman correct? I hope I am wrong because otherwise that really limits the usefullness of this file to mod makers. If I just start a league using Lahman will I get duplicate players in future drafts or will it line up correctly?

Actually there is very little cutting and pasting involved..im pretty certain I included with 375 a version of the batting and pitching files from lahman which are sorted by year. (If not I have em in 3.5)
Since my db is sorted by year all you have to do is open my db batting and pitching files in Notebook and delete all the years before your starting year. Then open the supplied lahman files and copy the copy and paste the years you deleted back into my db files. You dont need to worry about the fielding stats but you could do the same. But it has no effect in the game The whole process should take no more than 15 minutes. You just need to remember to put the years BEFORE your start year from the original db in in order to get the proper historical stats. If you have any other questions just ask. |

I have begun work on the 1993 file and there are a ton of young players that imported from your database. There is even a 15 year old Andruw Jones. I assume these guys won't appear down the road in future drafts as long as people use your database to import rookies from? Have you tested long term to see how these young guys develop? Would be a shame to have a guy like Jones sit in the minors for 6 years just like in real life (first game played he was 21 and didn't play regular until 23) and then he turns into a nobody but that is part of recreating history I guess!!

Doc, sometime I edit these rookies in this set to suit my tastes. I give them a chance for a bit to see what happens and sometimes give them a little boost if needed.

I will set them up for success so to speak but the beauty of a historical league is that it doesn't always turn out the way you think it will. Given the number of players (2,100) it is going to take awhile but I will start a thread and keep everyone updated on the progress. Hopefully everyone will enjoy this mod as much as they have enjoyed my previous work. It will start in the 1993 but I am going to break up the divisions into 3 instead of 2. 1994 was actually the first year for 3 but I will do it now to make the mod easier and more enjoyable to play.

Doc, I am REALLY looking forward to the new 1993 roster set! Grab the logos from the new 1987 set, they're an improvement.
