Logo Making Help

Hey all you graphic experts, I need some help in trying to make my own logos. I have a template for a logo background that is dark, and I want to cut & paste logos onto that template. I've been using the magic wand tool to select the background of the logo I want to cut out... then I press "invert selection." That selects the logo fine, but when I copy and paste it on the template because the background is dark I keep getting a sligt white border around the logo.

Is there a way to get rid of that edge around the logo? I'm using Paint Shop Pro if that's any help... Thanks!
