League Logo Needed

I'm starting up a new league for Baseball Manager and would like to have a logo in place as soon as possible. I have the concept all laid out; now I just need someone with better graphics skills than I and a little imagination to make it happen.

The league was created in 1870 by the major railroad companies, spanning the continent. I want the logo to reflect this spirit, so here is my general concept:

Taking a nod from the Mets logo, I'd like a globe with North America facing (something like the attached image -- basic, blocky, either filled or an outline) with seams running down either side to give the impression of a baseball. I'd then like a red line running across the northern part of the USA, a white line running through the middle and a blue line along the south, representing the three major transcontinental railroads. They should probably span from the west coast all the way to the east coast for appearance's sake, and maybe slightly curved so they have some style.

If someone would like to take a shot at that, I'd greatly appreciate it. LGO did a wonderful job on the Victory League logo so I'm hoping lightning will strike twice in here. Thanks in advance!

Hi,

here is a try for you. I know its not perfect but a first try. Had some probs to make the globe look good, maybe another try without the Globe ( or maybe only the north american map) would look better. Let me know what you think , and i will see what i can do.

regards Pepe

Edit: Making the Map bigger it would look better just my opinion.

Thanks a lot, pepeda, it's a very nice start, for sure. My first impression is that the seams could stand out a lot more. My work monitor isn't the best so I'm sure it would look better on my laptop, but I think either way they should be more striking. Maybe making them lighter compared to the background. Other than that, I'd just say to make the three lines in the middle more precise rather than squiggly like they are. When I said "curved," I was thinking a single arc with just a little bit of curve (maybe the top one curved slightly upward, the middle one more or less straight and the bottom curved slightly downward) just to make it more interesting than a straight line. To give it some dimension. Or maybe instead of lines, you could just fill the United States with the top third red, the middle third white and the bottom third blue so the entire country is three solid colors which would represent the three regions served by the rail lines.

The only other request I'd have right now would be to make it bigger so that we could use it for larger graphics, not just an in-game logo. But this is great so far. Thanks again.

Hi Scott,

here is a bigger Version of the Logo (i could make it any size you want, so if you need any other size let me know)

The lines are better to see now, and also the Baseball should look better than the other before.

regards Pepe

P.s if you need a mod let me know

Pepe, that's very nice, very close to what we're looking for. I can tell this is going to look great when it's done, and maybe one last round of tweaks will be all it needs.

Just going to be picky about the same things, but everything is much better than it was before. The seams look a little crooked in places, particularly the one on the right, like some V's are closer together and others are father apart, and maybe not right on the lines as well as they could be.

As for the red, white and blue lines, can you give them more of a subtle curve rather than having two straight lines with a sharp bend in the middle? Basically the way you did the lines under the seams, how they're curved and not crooked. I'd probably make the white line more straight and the blue line curved downward instead of upward, so the image looks round (giving it more of a three-dimensional appearance of a ball and a globe). I also think I'd rather have a solid line than a series of V's for those as well, and maybe keep them from going outside the borders of the continent (they hang over slightly in some areas).

The only other thing I'll suggest, and this is very minor, is to not overlap the seams over the continent. The Aleutians in Alaska run under the seams just a little bit and so it seems maybe a little crowded, but I won't complain if it stays that way.

The size is great, though if you wanted to and could easily do it, it couldn't hurt to maybe make it 500 pixels, but now I'm really being picky.

Looking excellent overall. I'm going out of town for the weekend so no rush to get it done right away, if you want to take a day or two (or more). Can't wait to put this in my signature!

Holy crap, that's beautiful.

Can I just be picky about one more thing? Both seams are pointing the same way. On a baseball the two should be pointing in opposite directions.

Other than that, this is PERFECT. If you can just make that one little change, that will be all I need. Thank you so much for all your work on this.

Man, that is friggin beautiful. I'll let you know if anything else comes up, but as it is, I'd say it's perfect. Thanks so much for all your work on this. And of course, if you want in the league, there's a spot for you.
