Where to find utilities and add-ons

Guys,

It used to be quite simple to find most if not all of the add-on's for OOTP. Now, there are several that I have no clue where they can be found. We need to get back to having a central location or two for these things instead of having to hunt and dig and search for them.

If you know where to find some utilities please post them here. I'm looking in particular for some of Pierre's utilities and also Wallman's plus any others that you can list here.

My CSV Exporter add-ons are here:

Hosting sites .. feel free to download and host these yourself. I'd prefer if they were with Pierre's CSV Exporter since they were meant to work with it.

Steve, can .400 Studios host all these files? With the relevant disclaimers and stating that they are not official and are to be used at people's own risk? That would give us all the one central place for everything. Otherwise, as things are, everything is dispersed. Is there a reason .400 can't host them? Or is that what you meant?

Steve, I think that this huge list of odd places makes my argument for me much better than I did.

Please talk to whoever makes the call and see if OOTP can host all the OOTP files on this site. Otherwise, how would a guy ever know where to look? I never even heard of half of these sites.

The OOTP community really needs one central file respository that is under OOTP control.

Henry, didn't you try to do that before and have probelms?

I really didn't have another unofficial site in mind. Especially since some roster makers and utility makers and data base makers have shown no inclination to upload their work to either your place or to BBSC. An official OOTP site would be different, if we can get one.

What the OOTP community really needs is an OOTP-controlled file source. One not subject to fluctuations and other people's schedules. One where you can upload a file and have it available to all of us. If we had that on this website, there'd be no questions to ask about where to go to get anything. Cause it would all be right here, easy to get to and ready to be downloaded.

Right now there are just too many things scattered too many places. It's time to bring them all under one roof and to keep them there and to keep the site up.

And if OOTP can't do it officially then, yes, it's time for us to do it unofficially. But it needs to be done, things are just too scattered now.

The problem I had was hosting graphics files (stadiums, logos) and roster files. They tend to be huge and I quickly reached my ISPs maximum download limits (The last month before I quit ran me over $200).

The utilities are a different matter since they are small and even multiple downloads won't reach my limits.

I do agree, however, that a single place for everything would be best - but OOTP has to worry about legal issues since they didn't create the addons.

Catalog.com could host the space and bandwidth for about $50 per month, but I doubt anyone wants to eat that bill.

Anyway, I can probably do the utilities which would be a step in the right direction

Well that would be better than nothing for sure.

But I will keep hoping for a better solution.

In the meantime, can you grab all the ones on this list and make them available soon?

Henry, please grab them, put them on your site and document them as best you can because if you wait for the authors, then this will still not have happened by Christmas.

I don't have it yet. Last I heard, Pierre was going to send all his utilities to Steve. Once that's done, I should be able to get a copy.
