New ballpark - Independence Park

Independence Park is one of the oldest parks in the league. Built in 1920, the stadium gets its name from the now defunct Independence Insurance Company that was headquartered in the building just beyond the centerfield wall.

Independence is one of the smallest parks in the league, with just over 32,000 in capacity. Over the years, the team's owners tried to expand the park but these attempts were twarted by the local citizens. The old Liberty Building and the 2 magnolia trees beyond the outfield bleachers were put on the state's historic registry in 1959, which effectively eliminated any future plans for expansion.

Distinctive feature: Both the left-field and right-field bleachers jut out onto the field. This usually causes some interesting plays when the ball bounces of the wall in left and sometimes in right.

Capacity: 32,420

Left Field Line: 330
Left Field: 350
Left Center: 366
Center: 360
Right Center: 360
Right Field: 340
Right Field Line: 324

Fences: 8 feet down the lines, 12 feet in the outfield, 20 feet in center

Yeah, I should of tried the dimensions in the ballbark conversion table that I downloaded.

Left field wasn't too bad, but the park was a left-handed batters paradise.

Upped most of the dimensions by 10 feet. Still a hitter's park, but not as much as before.
