FaceGen 2
I will begin accepting collections for the next set for the FaceGen photopack. If I can get another 1000, it will be enough to support an entire 30-team set!!!!

I definitely recommend a format or constant template for this patch. I also think separating ethnicity might be a good idea to simplify groupings.

We definitely need more pictures, I dont have enough for my 20 team league. However I have to say that I dont like the pics that have specific team uniforms, they look great, but just dont fit into leagues without those teams.
Trying to do uniforms on a team basis is a pain. I used the ficman templates and made 25 pics for each of 16 teams in a league, just covered the major leaguers. And due to trades, players movig from the minors up to the majors, FA at the end of the seasaon etc., it was alot of work and bother to try to keep uniform specific players for each team. So I think we are better off doing generic pictures so that they can fit any team.

Agreed, nm. Satchel offered to take his off - he said it wasn't a pain, but I don't think his were that intolerable.
But amitchell sent me about 200, and they all contain team logos. Knowing people wouldn't like it as much as the generic one, I tried to keep them at the bottom of the photo list, so that for atleast small leagues, they wouldn't get alot of those photos. Lets try to keep this next 1000 teamless... thanks everyone!

Shorty,
Since tax season is over (heavy sigh of relief) I am planning to put some work in on a fictional solo league I've been wanting to do. As I generate pics for players (mainly going to concentrate on the news-worthy players), I'll just save the pic in a generic uniform also. Mark

I'd love to help with this and I HAVE MUCH TIME ON MY HANDS - but I am pretty stupid and helpless in creating graphics - I've tried on several occasions to make these players and I have downloaded the facegen but I can't get the template to match up with the face or vice versa.
Any advice or VERY SIMPLE tutorial? - I'd love to help. Last edited by asaintsfan; 04-17-2003 at 03:37 PM. |

Bouncing this back to the top so it doesn't get lost.
I only have done about 10 pics so far. Been playing around with other stuff. Came up with a different style for the pics - wanted to get a second opinion on before generating more. Not sure if this is too different of a pic compared to the other fictional players that have been generated so far. |

I'm not sure if I can give a good explaination of how I created this player template, but I'll give it a shot.
Basically took a 1975 Davey Concepcion (sp?) baseball card and cut the uniform, bat, and hat out and pasted it as a new layer on a blank 180 x 270 Photoshop image. I then resized the uniform layer so that it was closer to being 180 x 270. After that just cut separate elements out of the uniform layer (I made the belt, long sleeves, stripe on the shirt and the bit of the shirt showing at the top of the uniform all one later since they would be the same color on a typical uniform). I then duplicated the red cap and the 'details' layers and used the color replace function to turn the duplicate layers blue. The final step was using the paintbrush and stamp tools to clean up any problem spots (where the signature went through the pants legs, the Reds logo, etc.) The only true helpful hints can give to create players this way: 1) Start with a 180 x 270 or even a 270 x 405 image - I find it easier to work with larger images then reduce the image down to the 90 x 135 size needed for OOTP. 2) Not all pictures will work. A funny head angle usually rules out the picture as being usable. The picture I used only requires tuning the FaceGen face a little to the left. I use print screen to capture the image then cut out everything but the face. The face is then reduced to about 10% of its original size. Once I copy the face into the template, I rotate it between -19 & -21 degrees so it leans the right angle. 3) The less skin in the picture the better. Players in short sleeves are harder to use as I found the skin tones on the arms were tough to get to match the facial skin tones. Hope this helps
