Game Log Display Page
This is the game log display page we came up with for the LBA. I grabbed the free javaScript code from a javaScript resource page. Then I asked one of the LBA's talented programmers if he could make a util that would convert the game logs into javaScript code...and he did.
I was looking for an easy way for owners to "watch" a game from an online league..rather than just reading the game log. How many people would actually "watch" games in this format in their online leagues? Also, I've been trying to figure out how to make a mouse-over pause feature. If anyone can look at the source and tell me how to do that I would be very grateful! Well here it is. Zorphyr River Cats vs. Sarinelos Screamers

I imagine you'll be wanting to speed it up and maybe even be able to control the speed. Very creative idea though! Well worth improving I'd say. Might be nice if you can have a few lines visible at a time though maybe with probably an empty line separating each, would make it easier to follow I think.

More Ideas
Ideally, it'd be a lot like Yahoo GameCast or a similar online text play by play... and show a picture of the diamond, with names out the various bases and positions, a running score, and if possible things like the pitching count and batting average / era for relevent players (though that may not be feasible) -- then you could basically set a time for the game, either 10 minutes or 2 hours or whatever, and the play by play adjusts to that speed, including brief pauses for half innings.
If you could accomplish something like that, the league commish could sim the games offline, and upload these "active box scores" which an owner could either watch or skip to the end. Now THAT would be cool. |
