Cool New ballpark display idea....

A while back, I tried a set using ballpark diagrams, but was unhappy with the results. Last night I couldn't sleep, so I played with the idea again - and came up with the following. Let me know what you think.

Ya, I like it. I like the new look of it, more old fashioned.

LOL... I had to read that twice to make sure I understood

Thanks... thinking of using backgrounds of the original stadium if I can find good ones... then again, the generic one shown here might be on all of them.

Henry, I like, but would switch the catcher and pitcher boxes. Also, there is a lot of unused space, I'd most likely offset the fielders somewhat, but then again, if/when the set is released, I can do that on my own.

Looks good!!

This is very close to what I had hoped someone would do when I first started looking at stadiums. With some minor moving around of boxes, possibly replacing the light green circles with dirt colored circles, I think you'd have a lot of interest in a set like this.

maybe you could replace the baserunner green circles with something that looked like a base with a number in it and replace the RH and LH with a homeplate with either RH or LH in it.

Looks fantastic! I too would prefer the Catcher and Pitcher boxes switched but other than that I love it!

Here is what a more-or-less finished "3D" representation of the ballpark would look like...

A cleaner "3D' version using the "Baker Bowl" ...

I second this motion. It'd be cool to have the catcher on top of the other fielding positions and the pitcher on top.

Looks really clean though. Very nice!

stade

Henry I have been looking forward to these since you gave us a preview a few months ago. I especially like the line-drawing/diagram format of the stadium, I hope we get a complete set of these from you sometime in the future.

I agree with the switch of the catcher and pitcher. Other than that, I love the idea of being able to see the field dimensions from the birds eye view. Nice !

How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you.

I can switch the pitcher and catcher easily enough. I guess my original thought in placing the pitcher was the fielders "behind him" and the catcher "in front" of him.

As far as the fielders, however, there isn't enough room to spread them out in a pattern, and some ballpark diagrams are larger.

One caveat... the original diagrams are copyrighted and I am waiting for approval to use them. I just want everyone to be aware there's an outside chance I won't get approval - which would mean I could only distribute them on request.

Ok... having 2nd thoughts about switching the pitcher and catcher..... after I flipped it and looked at it a minute, it looked wrong. Think of it this way...

With the catcher on top, the catcher/batter/pitcher/ fielders are all lined up as if you were looking in from center field. If you flip the pitcher and catcher (and have to flip the LH and RH as well) it doesn't "feel" right......

I see your point, but I prefer tohave the pitcher then batter, then catcher, regardless of where the fielders are.

Doesn't matter anyway, I can switch them after the set is released.

Hope you get permission.

Thanks!
