playoff format

Does anyone know if it is possible to make a mod that would allow for another playoff format to be avaliable in the league setup? I ask because baseball is looking at doing this (for those that don't know). The new format would add another wildcard round that would allow more teams to have a chance at post season play.

Yeah that'd be cool if someone could make something like that.

I have 4 Divisions and currently only the division winners go to the playoffs but that leaves out a few good teams that have at least won 90 games.

One year I had a team win 104 games and was still 3 games behind the division winner. That kinda sucks that a 100 win team doesn't make the playoffs.

I'd like to have the 4 Division playoffs set up like how the NFL has them.

I'd like the NHL Playoff style. Play 162 to eliminate 4

Heheh, well, let's be fair bigphesta, the NHL is much better in this regard today than it was in earlier years.

Currently in the NHL, 16 teams make the playoffs out of 30 in the league. So 14 are eliminated in the regular season, which is nearly half of the teams. This is much better than in the 1980s, when out of the 21 teams in the league back then, 16 made it into the playoffs, meaning the regular season eliminated just 5 teams. That was pretty bad.

The NBA has 16 teams make the playoffs out of 29, meaning 13 are eliminated during the regular season.

The NFL takes in 12 teams into its playoffs out of its 32 teams, which means 20 are eliminated during the regular season. There was some talk about increasing the playoff qualifiers to 14, but that plan has been scrapped for the time being.

MLB, of course, has 8 teams making the playoffs out of 30, meaning that 22 are eliminated during the regular season.
