“Support expected interface” in Cato’s.
When I run Cato’s History, and try to ‘Open’ the ootphist.mdb sample file, or any other database file file I create, I get this error message:
Class does not support Automation or does not support expected interface. Cato, thanks for your tireless support for this program. And my thanks to everyone else who helps with it too. |

1. Do you have MS Access installed? The MDB file is an MS Access file. 2. Do you have a different program besides MS Access associated with *.MDB files? If so these should point to MS Access. 3. If you have MS Access is it a different version than the one used by OOTP History as it's default DB? I think the MDB file is a MS Office 2000 version of Access, though I am not positive that would cause an error if the version of Access was different. Note that OOTP History does not require you to have MS Access on your PC, but if you want to view and edit the MDB files you will need Access. Hope some of this was helpful .

The .MDB file IS an Access 2000 database but merely having Access 2002 (from Office XP) on my system doesn't cause this problem. I've got a PC with OOTP History 5.3.0 and Access 2002 installed on it and it doesn't cause conflicts. Not sure what would happen on a system where the installed version of Access was OLDER than 2000, though. |

These errors are sometimes known as RunTime error 430. I need the correct MDACs installed. I thought I had already done this, but maybe not. I’m going to try to track those down. I hope running Windows ME isn’t causing these problems.
