When editing injury.txt

I've read most of the threads on mod'ing the injury.txt file, but I need to claify one thing.... how do you determine how many commas go at the end of a string?

The injuries at the top have 7 commas, the ones at the bottom have 4... and there are sections with all numbers in between. What does this affect and how do you determine where an injury I add would fall?

ex.
Quote:
Bruised Cheekbone,20,15,25,1,4,5,10,,,,,,, (7 commas)

Viral Infection,20,5,20,9,,,, (4 commas)
Oh, is it dependant on the amout of varibles used? I think I see.

So if I wanted to add "Banned for betting on baseball", then I would:

Gambling Ban,0,254,254,9,,,,

Is that correct? For a career ending "injury" that occurs outside the field?

injuries question

The extra commas are the spaces where you would enter additional ways to suffer the injury.

I saw that thread - so I hope I am not being dense I know it is where extra varibles go, I am just not sure how many should be used to close out a string. My theory above does not hold true for all of the injuries that are stock with the game.

So, does it matter if I put four or seven commas as long as my other varibles are correct?

cooper,

There are 14 maximum variables (that's if you use all the ways in which an injury could occur. I would believe that when the program reads the line, it needs to see 14 variables... in other words, if it randomly chooses position 14 and finds a blank, it would have to try again(?).

To play it safe, I would make sure there are at least 13 commas (for 14 variables) and you should be ok... although some in the game have less, so it might not make any difference at all.

Thanks Henry... that makes sense. I'll just add commas to make 13 on all the lines I added. I've seen a few on mine show up (doctored ball suspension for the rule changes of the 1920's), but not any of the major ones.

Thanks again.

Hey, cooper. Is there anyway you could send me over a list of your injury file with the suspensions and other things. I'd be really interested to see how that works. My email address is Dxgarnett@yahoo.com if you ever get the chance. Thanks a lot.
