My first logo - the Portland Peaks

I saw someone in a thread here requesting a logo for this fictional team and I thought I'd give it a try. My first logo creation ever, so be kind in your reviews.

Here it is:

If anyone's wondering, I did it in CorelDRAW (once I figured out how to use it again - it's been a long time since I played around in that program).

Hmmm, doesn't show up directly that way. Let's see if I can attach a smaller version of it to a post...

That looks awesome. Only thing i would change is the centering of Portland.

Thanks. I can't draw people or animals or anything, so I have to limit myself to manipulating text in various ways.

SD, I did have Portland centred on top at one point, but there were reasons for it to be off to the side. I like how the 'P' in Portand and the 'P' in Peaks are perpendicular to each other, and how the 'A' in Portland and Peaks line up with the mountain peak.

Anyway, I'm going to try to do a few more. I think the next one will be the Moose Jaw Moose. I still have a ways to go though before I reach the speed and quality of some of the other logo creators around here... but that gives me something to strive for.

No problem SD.
,
I will say that I love the Extrude feature in CorelDraw. A couple of clicks and you have an instant 3D object effect. Lots of other cool things in there too I'll have to try at some point.

Of course, Photoshop is still a very useful app as well.

Finding the just the right font to use though is a bit of a pain sometimes... there are so many choices...

It is awesome. I am the one who asked for the logo, and it is great. Perfect. Thank you.

I can't believe that's your first. It's excellent.

I agree with SD Padres that Portland should be centered.

I would put the "star" symbol...one on each side of the city name and center it. (Hope Monk doesn't see it).

I hope you continue to do the logos. You are very skilled and creative...excellent colors and design.

Now if you could just do a schedule as good as the logos

I like it without the Portland being centered, it gives it character.

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I worked for a long time in the graphics arts business, so I'm reasonably familiar with Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. But I used to do only production work, and after doing a couple of fictional company banners for TPF, I thought I'd try to indulge my creative side by doing a logo. I hope to do a few more and hopefully be a little quicker in getting one finished with more practice.

By the way, I'm not really familiar at all with the particulars of what a logo in OOTP technically requires, i.e. size, whether it needs a transparent background or not, etc. So for proper use in OOTP it may need a bit of tweaking.

Yes, I'm still the schedule guy, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to branch out a bit. Besides, without a handy importing tool, manually entering a schedule in OOTP is too time consuming. I need more practice in schedule creating anyway - man can that get hard if you're trying to get everything just right.

150 by 150 in size, and it doesn't need a transparent background unless you want to give it one. Never use pure black either, or it will be transparent.
