I an interested in making logos. What computer programs do some of you use to make them? Which one would you say is the best and offers the most flexibility?

I would say you'd need a vector drawing program and a imaging editing program. The two different types of apps complement each other, depending on what you are trying to do at various steps.

The "big 3" of vector drawing apps are Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, and Macromedia FreeHand. There are almost certainly cheaper and nearly as capable apps from other companies, but you'd have to search a bit to find info on those.

For image editing, Adobe Photoshop is pretty much the flagship app. But there are other choices available, many which have nearly as many features. The CorelDRAW suite, for example, includes an image editing package. Search the net and you'll find a number of good alternatives.

I looked into Illustrator 10, but it is very expensive. I might try to get an older version if I can. I will also look into CorelDraw.

I'm really liking Paint Shop Pro 8. I do not recommend Fireworks from Macromedia at all.

Are these trade secrets? Or does no one else care to say?
