HISTORICAL LEAGUE PLAY
VOTES NEEDED Here's the issue: there are two modes of play in OOTP - "REPLAY" mode and "CAREER" mode. "Replay mode" resets most of the accumulated stats to zero (keeping best stats only in the record books) and offers the choice of replaying the same season over and over again. For example: If one had just finished playing the 1901 season the only choice is to "RESET" the season stats to zero and begin the next season by starting the same year all over again. "Career mode" allows the user to "roll stats over" to the next year and keeps accumulated records for every other year in which a season is played. The downside for historical leagues is that players age and develop. In otherwords, the historical effects of players change. Players in the FREE AGENT pool would also age and change. This means that, at some point, the historical leagues would run out of a significant number of players who may or may not have played (due to the large number of players in the database). In otherwords, the database would soon become "exhausted" - excuse the pun! So, here's the issue and vote: 1) How many of you would be in favor of a 'REPLAY" mode which does not allow for aging and development but includes the option of "rolling stats and salaries, etc." over to following years? This way, one could play as many seasons as they want and have each players and each teams stats accumulate year by year. This would allow for 'CAREER" mode play without aging and development. Vote: "YES" on the "REPLAY ROLLOVER" Prop. 2) How many of you are happly with the way the two modes are set up now? Vote: "NO" - I'm happy eating chicken pot-pie! Spanky |

No to "replay rollover" and I'm happy with the way things are. Career mode without aging and development isn't really career mode. Its "Career" mode in something like Madden (or any other console game)

Clarification on Expanded Replay Mode
Quote:
I'm asking for the "option" of expanding the "Replay Mode" to include some of the "Career Mode" characteristics, ie., record keeping of accumulated stats and the ability to play multiple seasons. The new expanded "replay mode" would also include the option of choosing whether or not to include player aging, development, and retirement. However the "real season" stats would always be displayed. Why would anybody want to "replay" the same season over and over and over again? An expanded "replay mode" would offer continuous league play without altering the historical attributes or ratings of the original players or stats without the users permission. Remember, "it ain't a hotdog without the mustard!" Spanky |
