Any way to change league name?

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area, seemed like the place that would know!

http://zanyaidan.com/images/leaguename.JPG

I tried changing it in the league.dat file but it then makes the player file invalid. Reason I want to do this is so my ootp generated reports give the correct league name. I could just manually change it in the league.html file each time I generate reports, but would rather not have to is all. Thanks very much for any assistance you can offer.

I am not positive, but I don't think the game will allow you to change the league name.

I asked this when I first got the game and was told that you couldn't by Steve Kuffrey.

I just learned to live with it.

Interactive Online League Directory - find or advertise a league today! (now OOTP9 compatible, thanks for the space jazzrack!)
Canadian Baseball League - a recent OOTP9 convert, but running steadily since April 2002
SGCBL - a Lord of the Rings themed league with a very friendly membership and a commish constantly looking to improve the smallest of things

Thanks Kieran, great thread. Definitely above my skills I'd say so not to risk anything looks like I'll be manually changing it, lol.

yo putt:
what u need is a DAT editor...there are a few available.
The one I've used to change league names is 'XV132' - you will have to do yer own search forit on the web but its fairly easy to use and can do editing of most forms of data.

It's a hex editor that is needed actually - there are a ton of free or trial hex editors available for download on the net - UltraEdit is one of the best and is quite easy to use. Please make very sure you back up any file you edit, as a hex editing mistake can corrupt your league!

Just ran across this thread - I don't know how I missed it the first time.

I have been able to change the league name using Pierre's Player Editor 2 (PE2) that was made for OOTP 4. I have only done this once, so it has not been tested exhaustively. But that league ran for another 40 seasons without a glitch.

I will warn you - since the editor was made for OOTP4 you should back up all of your files. I know the player editing functions do not work with OOTP5, but it seems most of the league functions will.
I was also able to change the active roster limits from 25 to 30 players. I am hoping to be able to expand the rosters for the All-Star game and then move it back to 25 following the game.
