Opening Lahman in Excel

I figured I'd post this here and hopefully find someone who has modified Lahman often enough that they might know this. I'm having trouble opening some of the Lahman database sheets in Excel, specifically, the batting and fielding sheets are not opening completely, and Excel is giving me an error saying that the file is not loading completely. I'm assuming this has something to do with some sort of internal maximum memory thing that Excel limits itself. Is there any way I can get Excel to open the whole file? It opens until 1988, and I want to add the 2003 stats to some of the players.

Unfortunately in this case, Excel will only open slightly more than 16,000 records. One thing you can do is to make a copy of the files (just incase), then open in Notepad. Cut a portion of the file out of there and paste into a new file (effectivley splitting the data into 2 smaller pieces).

Open in Excel and add in your data. Save as a .csv file, and open that back up in Notepad, and past it back into the file with the other data (combine the 2 tables back together).

I think this makes sense.

Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you.

Yep that makes sense, though I just did the edits I needed to do in notepad. It was a lot more complicated that way, cause I like to add a header row in Excel and then delete it when I'm done, but wasn't able to in Notepad. Instead, I just sat there with the readme file printed out and sitting in front of me. I'll keep that in mind next time though. Thanks.
