Quick Catobase Win Shares Question

When calculating how many Win Shares to allocate to each team's offense/defense, does Catobase look at the number of runs scored only by that one league, or by the aggregate total of both leagues?

That is, when allocating the Win Shares for the 2004 Devil Rays, will it look at the league totals for the AL only, or for both the AL and NL?

The reason I ask: my solo league has a rather wide disparity in runs scored between the two leagues. This shouldn't matter much to Win Shares, as it will just make the .260 hitter in the pitching-oriented league get, say, 15 Win Shares, where he might get only 5 in the hitting league.

But the totals I get seem to not be normalized in that way. I just wanted to double-check that they're being calculated correctly. Thanks.

My question would be, "What are you hoping to hear?" As I recall of James' book, the code should only check against the specific league. The .260 hitter in the pitcher's league is worth more than the .260 hitter in the hitter's league.

I assume you know this already, I just wanna make sure and it's good to pound home for sabrunenthusiasts.

I see now that my original post was unclear, and may have gotten my point exactly backwards. What I noticed was that in my pitching-dominated league, about 60-65% of the Win Shares seemed to be allocated to defense. Meanwhile, the other league had about 57-60% allocated to offense (or so it seemed to me - I suppose I'll have to double-check this if my guess proves wrong).

While of course teams can vary from the 48/52 structure, the overall league does not, so if the numbers don't come up right, there must be something wrong.

Thus, my original post was wrong - what I meant was that the .260 guy was getting 10 Win Shares (or whatever), no matter which league he was in. This, of course, is not correct. Thanks for clearing up my misstatement.
