24 team, 113 game schedules
2 leagues, 3 divisions per league, 4 teams per division 57 games within the division (19 per opponent) 56 interdivision games (7 per opponent) no interleague games The two attached versions of the file are identical except they have the home and away teams switched for every game as a counter to the fact that in either version every team has either one more or one less home game than road games in total and also against each opponent. See the top of the files for more details. Last edited by gmo; 10-08-2004 at 07:38 PM. Reason: Only to correct the games information in the post |

A little "covering all the bases here"...

thanks.. I actually now have two seasons for that schedule. What I did on Season two was reverse the home and away, that way if you use them both you swap off who starts at home.
Both can be found at.. http://newrepublic.silvergriffin.com/ootpctchome.html (CTC Schedule 1 and 2).

32 team, 162 game schedules
2 leagues, 4 divisions per league, 4 teams per division 66 games within the division (22 per opponent) 96 interdivision games (8 per opponent) no interleague games The two attached versions of the file are identical except they have the home and away teams switched for every game as a counter to the fact that in either version most of the home/away matchup numbers are unequal for each opponent. I'm looking for a 154-game schedule for a 16-team league (2L/1D/8T), no interleague play, just 22 games per league opponent. Looking at the schedule already posted for these specs, it's a little too compressed and has too few off days for my taste. (One team plays every day in May, while another has four days off that month.) So if someone could make a more modern-looking schedule for these specs, both in terms of length of season and number of off days, I'd appreciate it.
![]() The series' length is up to you, 4/4/3 or 3/3/3/2 or whatever, doesn't matter to me... but if you could try to avoid two-day homestands or road trips, that would be especially great. ![]() Thanks!

Is it possible to get a 162 game schedule for a 40 team league ( 2L/2D/10T ) where each team plays 18 games against the other 9 teams in its own division ( no interleague and no games outside division against other teams in league ) ?
On a side note, how exactly do you guys ( gmo and others ) do this? I tried looking at the files and attempted to do it myself but I thought I'd be in the dark on most of the intricacies. Is there an easy method for doing this? Is it a pencil and paper job or can it done easily via spreadsheet? |

It is not very easy to explain the process I use, and I think that is due to more than just my inability to explain it well. Here's a little something though. Maybe if there is interest in hearing about it I could go into more of the details and tricks. Actually that could be little writing of my own and largely just synthesizing several posts from the past here by Le Grande Orange as I learned the basics from him.I do virtually everything in the spreadsheet, though the early layout phase is really a pencil & paper process. First all the matchups - the number of games for each team home & away against every other team - have to be determined and laid out. This is sometimes easy, sometime hard. Some matchup combinations are harder to work than others, but the bigger issue is usually team numbers as powers of 2 are fairly routine, while setups with bigger prime factors or uneven divisions are tougher. The matchups are packaged into series which are easier to manage and work with. But then the series have to be put together into couples to fit into 7-day weeks (except maybe 3 series when 2-game series are common). Each half-week (or so) block of series involving each team is laid out in some order to try to spread out the offdays and generally involve other things like having mostly divisional games to end a season. Once everything is laid out and ordered sensibly and seemingly prettily, then the tweaking starts because it is not really as good as it seems. Since the spreadsheet is set to find these sort of things from that layout, I'll find teams playing too many days in a row, too many (or too few) games in a row home or away. So I switch around matchups & home/away series to fix that up. When that gets cleaned up at least satisfactorily, I get it from the spreadsheet into the text/csv format and do a bit more tweaking/testing. After writing what I did there, I'm not sure I actually said anything, especially if you are interested in the process where the little intricacies are the key to making it work out right. Without going into a seemingly really boring and long step-by-step I'm not sure I'm saying anything. Maybe it's like those ancient tribes that did brain surgery - just started doing it for some reason, got a lot of practice, honed the skills, and got fairly proficient if not really that advanced. But again if there is expressed interest in really hearing about the nitty-gritty details I'll go deeper into my techniques. I won't say they are the best thing out there, but they work for me and maybe someone else could pick them up too. |

Hey guys, here's the 2001 MLB season. We all know what transpired during this season and I wasn't sure how to do this schedule at first.
I ended up making two versions. One includes the off days due to the 9/11 tragedy and the other does not (#2). Also, I removed any doubleheaders that took place . I also noticed a scheduling oddity this season as the 1st series after the allstar game ended on Saturday and the next series started on Sunday. Either that or I buggered it up somehow ![]() This schedule is ALEvsNLE, ALCvsNLC....for interleague Last edited by Khan; 02-23-2008 at 07:28 AM. |

Does anyone have a schedule similar to this?
32 Teams. 2 Leagues. 2 Divisions in each league. Play your division 14 times Play other division in your league 8 times (14 X 7) + (8 X 8) = 162 total games Thanks in advance!

I can see what you are saying about the smaller details. The broad strokes of your explanation were fine. They gave me an appreciation of the process involved . . . and enough of an idea that it would be too hard for me. Thank you very much! |

I have a schedule request for someone to make if they get a chance.
8 Teams -- Two leagues w/ one division each. 4 teams in each division. They'll be playing 162 games. All star game also. No interleague. The one OOTP generates is okay and I'd use that but I don't like how every team has the same off days. Thanks!

If somebody has some time left I would also need a schedule for my league:
10 Teams -- Two leagues w/ one division each. 5 teams in each division. They'll be playing somewhere between 120 - 140 games. All star game also. Only very few interleague games. |
