WWII Poster Request!
I think this is a pretty cool idea suggested by one of the followers of my Time Warp thread. We're approaching the WWII era, and the older players who did not get swept off to war often appeared on posters that supported the war, such as "Buy War Bonds."
I attached the pics of 2 of our biggest stars who will be around as old vets when the war begins... Could someone track down some old WWII posters and replace the images with one of these guys' pics? If you find more than 2, I have several other players I'd like to see on posters too! Oscar "The Kid" Vancini, the all-time homerun king, and George "The General" Ward, a great, clutch hitter. Vancini's with the Brooklyn Dodgers and Ward with the Boston Bees (Braves). You could do something like "The General Says Buy Bonds." Anything would be awesome! |

For WWII posters to use as a source, for inspiration, or just to look back on history, try this site out, it's excellent:

those are great jdew, thanks...
In case anyone wants to try additional ones, I've attached new images of other great players who should be staying on the homefront... feel free to use any you wish... here are their names: Sam Kass Fred "Froggy" Borgert - usually referred to as Froggy, not Fred Jethro "Dodge" Lee - usually referred to a Jethro... Dodge is a stand-alone nickname EDIT: In case you need some background on these guys, Kass is a clutch hitter in DC (Senators), so he'd surely be prominent since playing in the capitol. Froggy is a slugger who started and returned to the Big Apple (Giants) Jethro is a dominant, strikeout pitcher from the Senators Last edited by Matt from TN; 07-14-2004 at 11:05 AM. |
