New roster set at ootpdownloadcenter

JoeRockEHF recently put up my roster set on his site ootpdownloadcenter.com My roster set is Garlon's All-Time Franchise Roster Set. It basically has the 25 best or most important players of every franchise. 32 teams in total, 28 major league teams, an 1800's Pioneers team, a negro league team, a modern stars team, and an extra team of great players who deserve to be included but didn't quite make any other team's 25-man roster. Want to find out how a Yankee lineup with Ruth, Gehrig, Mantle, and DiMaggio would do against Nolan Ryan? Now you can.

There isn't a readme file included with the roster set, but the most important thing you need to know is to always "recalculate using previous seasons stats" after yeach season you simulate. All players have been imported as rookies. The statistics have come out very wello far. After 20 seasons of simulating that I have done, the most HRs in a season was Ruth with 59 for example...Ruth ended his career with 684 HRs, and Hank Greenberg ended his career with 705, Nolan Ryan got his 300 wins and 5000K's, and Cobb hit around .350 for his career. As of now the player ratings for fielding, running, stealing, and arm are all incorrect and somewhat randomely assigned by the game. I plan on making an update to get those ratings as accurate as I can, but for now do give it a try and let me know if you have any suggestions for improvements or if you would like to help me put together a photo set for it.

How do you use g rosters

Sorry for the really basic question, but how do you use these rosters? Do you create a new league folder and copy these contents into the folder?

How do you set up the teams and the league?

Readme file doesn't cover these basics.

Interested in trying out what you've created.

Also, how do you import or play additional seasons or is this intended as one season "replay" mode instead of "career."?

You should be able to put all of the files in the folder and just name the folder with a file extension of ".lg" and put it in your OOTP directory with all of your other .lg folders and be able to open it from within the game.

I tried replying to this days ago, but it didn't go though and I got busy and forgot to post it again for you.

I'm surprised nobody else pointed you in the right direction.

Playing the second season

With these all-time greats, what do you advise in the second season. Do you import the draft from Lahman or allow the use of fictional players by default?

Definitely use the fictional players. Since the league starting year is 1900, if you import from Lahman you will begin getting 2 of the same player in the league, for instance in 1905 you would get another Cobb. So just use fictional players for the draft, and I would suggest limiting it to 3 rounds so that the original players don't get pushed out of the game or onto the bench.

Remember to use the "Recalculate using previous season's totals" before the beginning of each season to keep the league in balance. Do it right before Spring Training.
