wow.. thanx it looks good, just wondering if you could make my nose pointed.. but not too much like the Americans.. and could you put a goatee just like eric gagne.. thanx again.. you rock!
I have not been saving the files from the program that does the faces so I am not going to be able to go back and change the nose. Sorry. I did put the best Gagne goatee on that I could.

hey real quick....you did an excellent job but i was wondering if you could change the uni's just a bit...coudl you make them cutoffs and change the font on the front of the jersey to more of a "classic" script font kind of like what the Indians have on their home uni's...also have them have purple sleaves on their cutoffs and that brownish color for the lettering then kind of give the lettering that purplish trim...also i'd prefer if i had a thinnergoatee..not so bushy/thick...i forgot to state that in my original post
Changed the uni around a little bit and gave him a bit of a beard trim.

Good job chew, very nice. Just keep working at the hair, use slightly different colors for depth and I actually use the blur a little bit to make it look a little more blended in with the face. Hair is by far the toughest to do.

What are action files Deft?

Thanks! I gave them a shot but did not get it to work. I am thinking maybe because we are running diffrent versions of photoshop?

Thanks! Getting the hair to look good is the most difficult. I still haven't been able to even come close to making long hair work.
Action files are Photoshop files that automate a series of processes. Deft set up some to work with his files.

Shorty, I set up some action files, Photoshop macros, that will suck out the player picture from the screen capture, paste it into the template, and resizes them but they only work with my template because of the resizing. I made them with Photoshop 7 and Chrdew has Photoshop CS. If you are interested I can send them to you. I also have a new template file for glasses.

So how time-consuming is this? I don't quite understand how it works, though I've read the readme on Deft's templates also. Still don't quite get it.

I'd love to be able to fill our league with this type of player photos (or at least the top tier of the league that makes headlines and leader boards).

I'll tell you right now that I can't design uniforms (or much of anything) worth a damn. But I could probably plug photos in...maybe.

So in a nutshell, how's it work (in dumbed down terms for this newbie/non-artist)?

You have to understand the concept of layers. Each layer is a seperate drawing that lays on top of the one below it. These layers can be changed in order, turned on or off or duplicated from one file to the next. Photoshop and Paint Shop both use layers.

How I used them was I broke up a single picture of a player into parts of his uniform like his undershirt, cap, bill, jersey and made several layers of the same thing in different colors.

This way you can reconstruct the picture of the player in a single base file using different color layers duplicated from the files that contain just specific uniform parts.

To make a template, open the base file that has a generic face and the shadow and underbill of a cap. There are several other files in the zip like cap.psd that have 8 or 9 layers of colored caps. Select the one you like and duplicate in to the main base file.
When your template is done it will have several layers of different clothing parts (buttoned jersey, undershirt, cap, bill, etc..)

Once you have a template, then you can use Facegen and screen capture software to capture a facial image that you can drop into the template. Then save as the player .bmp file and your done. It may sound difficult but once you have a template its pretty easy. (2-3 minutes a face)

Okay, I'm starting to get it now. The PS layers thing makes total sense. Facegen is a whole 'nother animal. That program is serious duckets, and I've got an automotive obsession I have to support. 500 bones, I can't do. Any alternatives or an earlier version for cheap?

So...if I wanted to get a uni/hat designed for our teams, I could post here (or try it myself) and then apply it to the outer uni layer and the hat layer, right?

Thanks Deft. This is very helpful.

But all you need is the demo of Facegen because what you do is pose the face and screen capture it.

Very cool. I'll have to start to play when I get home. Unfortunately PS is on our Mac and facegen is a PC thing. Finally get some use out of the CD burner...

p.s. Meanwhile, anyone wanna take a crack at creating a uni and cap layer for any of these three teams in our league? Pretty please.
