BOSI v2.002 released

v2.002
-- Marked the proper columns as mandatory in the league admin screens.

-- Fixed a 404 Page Not Found error in the importer if you are logged in as an admin (not the Super User).

-- If you tried to pick a pitcher in the draft, you would get an error. This is fixed.

-- Fixed an issue with the player importer where it would error sometimes when the player didn't exist, and/or not import the ratings correctly.

-- Fixed amateur draft to only show amateurs that aren't assigned to a team.

-- Added Owners Directory

Question to fiance -- How much do you love me?

Answer -- So much that we can get our legs tied together, walking 3 legged for the rest of our lives and I'd love it.

When BOSI is up for the OLS, will it be posted here?

I tested the upgrade script on the Central Server and there was a hiccup or two. I want to work those out before giving the upgrade script to Andreas. Probably another couple of days.

It'll be released tonight. It would have been released yesterday but Civ III sucked me in and I didn't realize it until it was 2:30am.

Haha, Joe, that rocks!

Anytime you want to take a night off to use your Mechanized Infantry and Armor to attack and hold cities from the Indians, go right ahead!

I've noticed that some leagues' BOSI pages seem to have more info than others like a player's entire development record. Is the OLS not updated to the latest version and that's why there's the difference?

BOSI 2 as released by Joe did not contain any player development reports and is missing lots of other functionality in BOSI 1.

Joe's life threw him a curveball and he had to give BOSI up to someone else to carry the flame (can't remember his name). This guy decided it was best to rewrite the whole thing and I do not know what his progress his at this time. Joe used to use the TLB (True League Baseball) league to test his BOSI stuff. If you visit that league and their forum you can probably find out who is working BOSI 2.

Last I heard there were other's working on completing BOSI 2 but everyone was doing their own thing, including myself. I thought a complete rewrite was the wrong direction to go and was working on finishing BOSI 2 in its existing state. But I actually just cancelled all my work on BOSI 2 until I find out for sure if or when we will be able to convert OOTP 6 leagues to OOTP 7 league. Markus has said it is in his plans, but may be impossible. So I immediately stopped my BOSI 2 work because they only reason my league was going to OOTP 6 was so we can continue using new versions of OOTP. If we can't upgrade past OOTP 6, we are not going to bother to upgrade to OOTP 6 to begin with. Most of my league prefers OOTP 5.

Anyway, the reason you see some leagues with more than others is because folks have picked up and wrote/added their own new things into BOSI. You may be able to talk to those league commissioners and get them to give you their BOSI addition to use in your league. However depending upon how they wrote the addon it may not work with your league without some custom programming.

Dave is right. I have also been neglecting the OLS, and I apologize(One league has asked me to reset their information twice now, and I still haven't done it yet). Life is still VERY hectic, so it's hard to keep all the balls up in the air. All in 1 is well covered of course, but everything else has been falling through the cracks.

I do hope to have my life back in a couple of months where I can help Jack with BOSI 3. Dave's concern about being able to upgrade from v6 to v7 and my concern about having all the data visible in an easy to read format (the files the CSV exporter creates) are both big worries for mod developers. Hopefully, SI will be able to address these concerns soon. Also, there will never be a time table for the completion of BOSI 3. One of the mistakes we made was promise dates. That made this more of a job then a fun hobby. We need to have fun developing this, and having pressure to meet "deadlines" just wasn't very fun. That's why you haven't seen Jack on here with any information.

Sorry for the incomplete version. I had such high hopes for BOSI v2, and so much time invested. The importer alone took me about 4 months to develop. Hopefully, one day, my dream of BOSI providing the statistical depth of baseball reference will be realized. Right now, all I can think about is tomorrow.
