Having Problems With Input/Output Folders In Cato

Hey all,

There seems to be a discrepancy in the readme file and what I am seeing when I open up Catobase. I am running 6.1.3 for an OOTP5 file.

Anyway, I ran into problems with the HTML and I suspect the problem is that I have the folders in the wrong spot.

The problem is, when I go to the readme file, it is specifying more folders than I have options for.

For instance, the Game HTML files folder is mentioned (and I know what that is, I have a folder with all of the seasons properly exported and everything), but there is no such folder listing under the Input.

There is a "league" and a "data" directory. I thought the data was where we set the browser to the exported files from the game (and league was pointing to the original league file).

Anyway, I looked under the readme, and it mentions the league directory, a Games HTML directory, a data directory and a hard drive directory for where the indez is saved (or something like that). That's a whole four different spots, and there are only two under the Input options section. So if someone here could come on and tell me which is which and why I am seeing things so different, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Yeah, the readme hasn't been updated. The Game HTML directory is no longer needed. This is where the OOTP generates the HTML pages when you select League/Online League Reports in the game.

The League Directory is your league folder, e.g., MLB.lg, under your OOTP folder. This is where the *.dat files are.

The Data Directory is where the exporter creates the CSV files that are imported into CatoBase. This doesn't really need to be changed, the default location is fine in 99% of the cases.

The Hard Drive directory is where the HTML pages created by CatoBase will be located. This option is on the Output tab of the Options screen. Again, in 99% of the cases, the default will work just fine.

Sorry for the confusion. I'll update the readme for the next update.

Thank you, sir.

So does this mean I don't need to export the HTML reports anymore? That I can just set the league directory and it's good to go (well, and set the data directory to where I want the CSV files).

Yes. The data directory defaults to the 'data' folder under whatever folder you create the database in. Unless you have some special requirement, this should work fine.

There is a rare exception where CatoBase may need the league.html file to get the playoff data. This occurs if CatoBase has a problem reading the schedule file, which sometimes happens if its edited or nonstandard in some way. If it's needed, a box will pop asking for it during the import process.
