Catobase 6.1.4 problem
Hi all. I've been struggling for the past week with Catobase 6.1.4 trying to solve a problem, but I'm at my wit's end.
I'm an owner in an online league that wasn't using Catobase. Our league has completed 9 seasons now (2001-2009), and I had appropriate league files for all of those years, except years 2001 and 2003, so I figured I'd try out Cato on what I had. I started out putting years 2006-2008 (2008 was our first OOTP6 year, all the rest are OOTP 5) into Cato and it worked great. I got the HTML pages working with those years. However, that's as far as I've been able to get. I can import all the remaining years into Cato, but when I attempt to generate the HTML, I get one of two errors depending on what years I'm working with, either a "Type Mismatch" error, which occurs during the processing of the Fielding Registers, or an "Error 3021: Either BOF or EOF is True..." when Positional Charts are being processed. I've tried everything I can think of. I even converted all the OOTP5 files to OOTP6 to see if that would solve the problem, but to no avail. I've searched on the forum and found these same errors mentioned, but there really hasn't been a specific fix mentioned. I checked out the areas that might be problem spots, but my data looks ok. An even stranger thing is that, in an attempt to troubleshoot the problem, I made individual Catobases for each of the league files. I am able to import the stats and generate the HTML for each individual season no problem. It's only when all the years are combined into one database that these problems arise. Unfortunately of course, I want everything in one database. The fact that the individual years work fine tells me that there is no problem with the source data. Something seems to go haywire once the years are all in the same database. Has anyone else out there had any problems similar to this? Any ideas? I appreciate any help that can be had. Cato's utility is great for history and I'd really like to get it up and running. Thanks in advance. |

A couple of ideas, that probably aren't even close...
1) When you try to build the whole database, are you importing the data in chronological order? (I have no idea whether this would be a problem or not, having never tried to import data out of sequence.) 2) Has this league switched from DH to no-DH, or vice versa? (Just a thought, since the problems seem to be related to defensive stats.)

1) I must've tried creating at least 50 databases in the last week, using different combos, trying to determine the problem, but it still creeps up. I have imported all years in order and out of order, but same thing. 2) We had no DH in 2001, then switched to DH in 2002, but since I don't have source files for 2001 in the database, I'm guessing this isn't a problem. |

Hmm... I've been getting this error for a while now myself. With Cato gone, I guess, does anyone else have any suggestions?

I would suggest giving 6.0.0 a try. All versions greater than 6.0.0 have given many people problems during HTML generation. A very common bug is that it generates errors during split stats processing. It doesn't sound like that is when you are getting your error, but I would give it a try anyway. I can email you 6.0.0 if you PM me your email address.

I've had 6.13 work... 6.14 is just where I started to have problems. Even stranger, if I just import the latest season into a new 6.14 database, no problems.
Expect an e-mail later today.
