Anyone interested in some "simple" logos?

I'm a real Photoshop novice, and I don't really have the creativity or drive to learn a lot more about it. I'm not an artist, so it seems a waste of time to devote so much to something I use so infrequently. Luckily for me, then, I like simple logos that match the rest of the teams and that are easy to customize. I've got a specific style I've been using recently, and so I've come up with a whole bunch of matching logos (sadly, for leagues that didn't get too far off the ground). Considering how active the logo community is here, I figured I may as well make them available if anyone cares to use them. I'll post some samples here, and if people like them, I'll zip up all the ones I have and post them somewhere.

As a side note, they're really, really simple to make now that I have a template, so don't hesitate to ask for a customized version. I'll do my best.

They're excellent, TE, and perfect if you were putting together a whole league! I too like my logos to have a similar theme.

TotalEnds, while you may not want to delve particularly deep into Photoshop, there is one thing you could learn which would really give you a lot more creative options, and is something which is relatively easy to use: Layer Styles.

These were introduced in Photoshop 7, and are pretty darn amazing. I assume you're aleady using layers to compose your logos, and if so, then using layer styles is a natural follow-up.

For your New York Knights, for example, you'd have "Knights" on the top layer and the "NY" on the middle layer, with the bottom layer being the grey background. With the two type elements each on their own layer and rasterized (that is, converted from text into pixels via the Layer > Rasterize option), you can then use Layer Styles.

All you have to do is select the layer you want to add a style to, then go to Layer > Layer Style and select the particular style you want. Among the choices are drop shadow, inner glow, outer glow, and bevel and emboss. Once added to a layer you'll see the results immediately, and you can add more than one effect to a single layer. Best of all, layer styles are completely editable.

There are a lot of various options available for each layer style, but just play around with them and you'll quickly see what each does. Layer Styles work quite nicely with type, so they go well with the straightforward type-based logos you're building.

Anyway, try 'em out!

Actually, I don't think that you need to rasterize the layer first.. I use layer styles with text all the time.. and it looks like he used them with his logos already.. Looks like he used STROKE to me..

Thanks for the help, LGO. However, I do know how to use layer styles (as davwms pointed out, I used stroke in the logos). They're about the upper limit of my Photoshop knowledge (along with "centering text" and "sepia").

Ah, okay. You can also stroke type through the paths menus IIRC, so I wasn't sure if you did it there or in layer styles.

I've been meaning to use them more myself, particularly the drop shadow and bevel and emboss, but haven't had something that really warranted them yet.

Very nice logos. They will show up very well in the game.

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Actually, to my knowledge, Layer Styles were introduced in Photoshop 6.
