Cato - Getting Started

Alright, my interest has been peaked. I know it's likely in the MOD section, but wanted to generate at least a Cato 101 pointer here for anyone else like me who's unfamiliar or "askeered" of looking into it.

How/where do you get started? Do you need a specific piece of software? I'm looking for the 5 Point Primer. Beginner level.

First download all three downloads; 5.40, 6.0 and 6.1.4.

Install 5.40. It will install the base Cato stuff. Then install or extract the 6.0 patch and the 6.1.4 patch into the directory where you installed Cato.

After that, look at the directions that come with Cato. They are pretty self explanatory and easy to follow.

Important note: If you want to use Catobase, DO NOT press the "Proceed To Next Season" button (or make a backup copy of your league folder before you do). Otherwise, it will be too late.

Do you only run this before you hit Start New Season? Can you install and setup before then?

You could install it, but you couldn't actually do anything with it until your season is over and you are ready to Press The Button. When you get to that point, DO NOT Press The Button before importing your data into Catobase.

Thanks for the tip. One more question on Cato, will it recognize the career stats of the players already in the league? I started in 2000 and I'm in May 2003 right now, when I run it, will it consider "career" stats correctly, or only from this point forward?

CATO can do it either way I believe. The cool thing is that it will total pre-sim stats and sim stats separately. Though, be aware that leaderboards, etc. will only show simmed stats I think.
