CATO question - awards
OOTP 6.11, Cato 6.1.4 -- just to get that out there.
Fictional league, fake teams, fake players, starting from 1902, working forward. The league works great, the Cato pages are awesome. Here's my situation. In 1908, fictional first baseman Richard Ashlock plays most of the season with the New Haven Jackhammers of the Metropolitan League (ML). However, he is inexplicably put on waivers in October, and claimed by Boston of the Associated League (AL) with one game left in the season. His season therefore finishes with 155 games played for New Haven and 1 game played for Boston. While with New Haven, he gathered a .997 fielding percentage, committing only 5 errors all season. With Boston, he made seven putouts with no errors. OOTP gave him the Gold Glove award for his work at first base in the Metropolitan League. However, CatoBase doesn't recognize that he was a member of the ML, so when awards time comes, CatoBase leaves the 1B slot empty, essentially giving no one the Gold Glove. I can't select Ashlock from the drag-down-menu on that screen because Cato only offers current members of that league as options. Now the results: On Ashlock's player page, it says at the bottom that he won the Gold Glove in 1908 (because that's from OOTP's data). However, at the tope, where awards appear, it does NOT list him as a Gold Glove winner, because that part of the page is generated by CatoBase. Now I tried to manually go in and edit the page for Ashlock, but when I ran Cato for the following season, my changes disappeared. (Small question about that: does a player have to retire before I can edit his page?) Big Question: Is there a way for Ashlock still to be recognized by Cato as the Gold Glove winner in the ML for 1908? Or is this just some flukey situation...? |

The weirdest thing to me here is that OOTP actually gave the guy the award in his old league, despite him being traded to a new one. I've never seen OOTP do that. It has always had the same issue: it only recognizes a guy as being part of his current team.
Must have been a patch or something that changed things. Your only option may be to edit the database in Microsoft Access if you have that ability.
