Lousiville Logo
Can someone make me a Lousiville Sluggers Logo?
Can you make a yellow background like some of the Pirates and an L in a font near or similar to either the Braves or Mets? I guess the font could be OK as long as it is not just a regular L thanks |

enuttage set up the Logo Bank awhile ago. In each of the albums next to the logo name there is a three letter abreviation on who created the logo. He used to have a page what stated who the abreviations were.

Sorry guys. During my move to the new domain and a new computer a lot of stuff got mixed up and I:
1) Couldn't put two and two together on a lot of the logos on my computer. 2) Posted them anyway. I shouldn't have posted the ones I didn't have credits on. And...due to some concerns brought to my attention today, and my lack of time and ability to go back and try and figure out who's who and such, I may just shut the whole thing down. My sincere apologies to those I've offended/angered. My initial intentions were nothing but good, I assure you. -E |

Nevermind. I just had a nice unhealthy dose of self-doubt.
Almost all the logos ARE coded, but I don't have my key up anymore because I moved sites and started using gallery software, which doesn't let me to a front HTML page (that I can figure out). In any case, all your logos have now been pulled LivnLegend and anyone else who would like theirs pulled, I'll be happy to do so. But until I get an appropriate key posted up, I've been abbreviating usernames here on the forums, with the exception of a couple, which have come from some sources outside this board (my wife's work included). Sorry if I bent anyone the wrong way. I certainly did not mean to. -E |

I see my logos pop up all the time with modifications and no credit given. One guy [who shall remain nameless] recently posted 2 that were mine with just the city name changed but submitted them as his "own". It's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but when I was making logos for people, I was not simply using existing sports logos from pro teams and modifying them. Unless specifically asked to do so, I never used a pro sports logo in my submissions.
Eric, I think your logo bank is a very good idea for the community! I just wanted to mention I think it is a very good idea to ask others if they would live to be involved first, and give credit where it is due. Good luck with it! |

No worries Eugene. It'll stay up, and I'll try and figure out some way to easily identify who is who.
Maybe a mod will sticky a key here even. I just thought I had mixed up more than I had and was worried that I might've posted more than I thought without keeping track of who was who. At that point I was concerned about it becoming a bigger problem. I love it, but I sure as hell don't want to stir up trouble, and LivnLegend's PM really threw me for a loop 'cause I hadn't prepped things how I should've. I totally understand the sensitivity to an artists work, and if I can't keep it straight, I'm opening myself up to some angry/frustrated folks, which spoils the fun for the designers, and turns something fun into a nightmare for me. But in any case...all is well. I'll figure something out. -E Quote:

Great news. It would really be a loss if you had shut it down. Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-22-2004 at 09:48 AM. |

To me this kind of smacks of the whole face pack thing awhile ago. If I recall in that situation, someone had put together a face pack (which had to use the work of maybe hundreds of sources), then got bent out of shape becuase someone else took his pack, made changes/additions, but then didnt give him credit for the pack. Who really cares, I have done alot of logos, and probably the majority of people that use them never give a thought as to who made them. When I look at the logos on the site that this thread refers to I dont really look at the who made them, although you can see the ID under the logo. By the way I looked at the ones attributed to me and I saw one that I didnt do, the Louisville slugger one with the baseball back ground.
Bottom line this is a hobby, people making logos, skins etc. for others to use to increase their enjoyment of the game. Most people that make the logos etc., probably borrow from other sources, I know I have seen logos I have done from sctratch used for logos done by others. If you want payment or recognition then maybe you should start a business and copyright your work. If your doing it for the OOTP community, then just sit back and enjoy that fact you have contributed to the community and that others enjoy your work. There are alot of us that do it for free, for our own enjoyment, why someone would want to charge for their work or others pay for it is beyond me.

I wish I had never said anything because I certainly did not want to go down this path again. As with the photo packs, there are two camps in this community. One thinks that some credit should be given to those who spend countless hours creating something that others get to use and enjoy and the other camp feels you should just be happy that you gave to the community and never be credited with anything.
It’s the latter type of thought that has probably soured some of the contributors away from this forum. I’m not going to try and persuade you into thinking the way I do. I already tried that before with the photo pack issue. Forget I said anything. If you want to take someone else’s hard work, make a small change and then call it your own, I’m not going to try and stop you or reason with you.
