Opinion Requested on Text Superimposed on Background Image

Coming from the perspective of a person that is completely new to the site, which is best?

without map: http://kbl-ootp-online.com/home.html
with 5% opacity map: http://kbl-ootp-online.com/home5.html
with 7% opacity map: http://kbl-ootp-online.com/home7.html
with 10% opacity map: http://kbl-ootp-online.com/home10.html

As you can see, the higher the opacity the less readable the regular text is, but the less opacity the less you can make the map out. I think I like either the no map or the 7%. It's not a huge deal, but I don't want to turn off newcomers to the site with text that is difficult to read or something that just looks like a mess. If you'd like to see another opacity let me know.

I like the 10% followed by no map at all. I think if you are going to use the map (which i like) you should be able to make it out. I dont think it really interferes with the text much at all.

Definitely 10%

I dont think its obtrusive at all. It also lends a nice layer of depth to the page. Nice looking job, so far.

I don't see the 5 or 7% too well. 10% doesn't interfere with the text on my end.

10 % works for me, I believe it is the best one.

I personally like the 7% better, but the 10% is good too. Both are better than no map I think. It gives the background a bit of colour rather than it just being a field of white.

Thanks everyone. No one seems to find it a problem and the most popular is 10%, so we'll go with it.
