Fictional Faces

Hi eveyone and goodmorning

There's a great little project going on in the mods section that I want to briefly tell you about (in case you happen to be someone like me, who until recently rarely visited the mods folder).

The project is pretty simple. There is a fictional faces generator at

And seviien has set up a system (by use of a list of random numbers on a downloadable spreadsheet) to coordinate and facilitate the collecting of at least 3,000 fictional faces from the mzitalia player faces generator.

The idea is to collect 3,000 of them and then make them accessible to the entire ootp community for download.

I want to express that I was very skeptical at first about these fictional faces. Upon first seeing them I thought, "well, that’s kinda neat...but, in contrast to the real MLB photos those fictional photos just don’t seem as rich in detail and personality"...but, after collecting over 200 of those faces I now have a much different opinion of them.

I’m starting to see them in much the same way that I see the fictional names and players in general: that, with a large number of fictional photos worked with over time that they do really develop stronger and stronger senses of personality...that immersed in a fictional league with fictional photos, those faces become even more lifelike and detailed than I would have expected.
Therefore, I have really come to believe that the fictional faces being gathered can be (for those of us here that do fictional leagues or even just start with MLB players and then add fictional rookies as the seasons progress) a great addition to the game.

So, partially I just wanted to write this to let you know about the project, but, also, if you would be interrested in helping out in the collection process (its very easy stuff to do and kinda fun in a way) then please consider stopping by in the mods forum:

The thing is that every little bit helps...so, even if you could spend just 2 hours over the next 2 weeks (i.e. Less than 10 minutes per day) on this you’d be able to add over 100 faces to the project and that help would be greatly appreciated.

Of course, many of us are very busy and simply don’t have the time to help and that’s ok too...just know that these fictional faces will soon be at a download site near you so be sure and check back if you want to use them in the future for your leagues!

Just wondering if this thread was read before it was moved

To summarise, FS was wondering if anyone who might not frequent the Mods forum would be interested in helping to build a great community resource. This aim was diverted by this thread being moved. Please move it back!

Ahh...lol...its ok dougation...I just added the info from the post to my signature instead so that it posts EVERYWHERE that I do...lol

And, I thought about it after I saw it moved and realized that the moderators might have decided to enforce a very strict policy to keep discussions of mods to mod forum. Reason: Follow-ups to my original post within the thread in the standard 'ootp6' thread could very well drift toward extensive posting of info specifically about the "mod" itself and, by that happening the information relating to the mod topic could end up being scattered between the two forums. (I hadn't thought of that way of seeing things until I saw that this thread had been moved).

I don't know if that is exactly the reason why it was moved, but if it was I think it would actually be a pretty good reason.
So, instead of that, I have just attached a bit of info about it in my signature (which is, of course, not in danger of having any followup posts attached to it).

Thank you for your words though dougation. Its a comfort to know that others are supportive of my having started this thread in there...there's always that feeling one gets of "ooops...I screwed up by posting it in there" LOL...and, what you've voiced in your post is therefore kind of a relief to see.
