1897 Fictional League still needs 6 more logos

Some of you great artists might remember me creating a historical/fictional league starting in 1897. I'm now mainly done, only the stadium question remains open.
Since my league starts with only 10 teams I thought it would be nice for other users if they could add some more teams in case they want to start with 16 teams, or wants to do expansion.
So I would basically need six more logos, which I would then include in the league file.

Please keep in mind that it's a league starting in 1897, so you can use graphics but just don't make 'em too modern.

I thought of the following teams:

1. St. Louis Lions - DONE
2. Denver Bandits - DONE
3. Los Angelos Arrows - DONE
4. Atlanta 99ers (could be an expansion team in 1899) - DONE
5. Chicago Blackbirds - DONE
6. Virginia Owls (It would be awesome if you could include a map of Virginia)

Once again thanks a lot for your work.

Give them time and they will come...

scotto did this one for the Blackbirds...I always thought it was one of the most original ideas I have seen...using Heckel and Jeckel.

Maybe he or one of the other fine talents will do something with it for you...that is, if you like it.

Not sure if this is too modern or not:

It's cool Knuckler, thanks a lot. It's a little too modern for 1897 but I will use it when my league is in the 70's or 80's.

Blackbird, blackbird...

A simple try at an old-style logo...

Fine logo.

How in the world did you get that blackbird to pose on that "C"?

Very nice touch.

I could get him to sit...

...the hard part was getting him to stay...

...and he kept screaming "NEVERMORE!"

Now, I feel all gloomy....

Concentrating on the blackbird, I failed to notice that very unique "C" with the Black semi-circle line in it...never seen anyone use that before. What do you call that?

Ec...

I tried to find a font that looked like it would be popular at the turn of the century, and that would frame the bird well. I decided to use the font Castellar as it had both those qualities. The dark semi-circle on the inside of the C is just part of the font design. So, I guess I lucked out there.

Very fine Denver, Fast Lane.

How long does it take you to do a logo? It is amazing the number and quality that you, nmleague and knuckler produce.

Depends (not the diaper)...

...on how fast I put the elements together, whether or not I have to make my own graphics from scratch or cobble them up from other sources, and how simple or complex the design is... But overall, I'd say the average logo for me to make takes about an hour or so...sometimes 2 or 3...

I guess if I spent more time on them, they would look better than they do.

Now you make me appreciate the designers even more...that means over 300 to 500 hours have been spent on my logo requests.

When the Professional Circuit began in 1896, the logos I created really were just 'letter' logos for the most part.

I thought in that era, there would have been minimalistic logos for the teams.
You can check them out at the link in my sig if you like.
