Fantasy Sports Logo - Nebraska Mammoths...
Hi guys, just wanted to post a logo I made this weekend, feel free to use it. I always try to avoid designing my logos sport-specific and this one is no exception, and should be suitable for most sports.
My origianal idea was to show the migrating mammoth crossing over the mountain represented by the wordmark. But I dont't think it came through very well. Anyways, enjoy. BMP's coming up...

Pretty slick, but there's something odd about the horns. Also, you have Nebraska misspelt.

Great work man. So, dbacks, can I change back my team name in GFBL?

Alright, I made some major revisions to the logo according to some of the feedbacks I got. Let me know how it looks now.

And here is the little interesting tidbit I thought I would share with the community, the evolutionary process of the logo.

You're very talented Cuss. So, it all starts from paper then a graphics program?

Hmm, I'm going to shoot some ideas here, but don't think for a minute that I can't appreciate your work: You are really talented, that's pretty obvious from both the logos you use to post here and TPF's graphics.
The last design is somewhat messy (the left horn seems to come out right from the eye, for example). This is just an opinion, but I think that sports logos have to have what I call an "steady look". Why don't you try a frontal of the mammoth, mean look, nose up and horns in rounded "L" over the name? Another option that's always interesting to measure when creating a logo is the chances that you have to go subtle. I mean, it isn't always required that you draw a mammoth or whatever the figure you want to represent in order to make the observer realize what is that you wanted to symbolize. For example, take a look at this logo someone created for the Colorado Mammoth. It has the added bonus that the design gives him a great wordmark.

Exceptional logo and graphics work, Cuss16.
Thanks for showing us the graphics process. That is interesting. How long did it take you to create this logo? As I have told you previously it's too fancy and complex for my taste...I am fan of the traditional, less complicated, simpler logos...but your graphics are amazing...plus as you also know I like the city and nickname to be larger, so it will show up well on OOTPB midsized screens. And I will say it again, I wish you had time to create an occasional request on this board. Your work is outstanding. I like the concept and idea stated in the Colorado Mammoth post, Treches. That was interesting. Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-06-2004 at 10:56 AM. |

Treches is a master logo designer and I miss his great logos here, too.
Here is one of my alltime favorites done by him (I think I have two by him)...also have one done by Cuss16 (I think I have two by him)...A Sundowner is a farmer that works sunup to sundown...may be an Australian term...I took it from an old Robert Mitchum movie "The Sundowners". It doesn't matter to me if my logo requests are original drawings or "rip-offs", the important thing is it looks good in design and on OOTPB mid-sized screens, has good color coordination, good contrast and the image and font fit the theme of the town and city. Fortunately this Forum has been blessed with many designers who graciously share their fine graphics skills with those of us, who are far less talented. We are very fortunate to have all of you...especially knuckler, nmleague and scotto, who are always here doing fine work. I guess what I'm am saying it that I wish all of the guys that used to regularly creat logos here would occasionally show off their great skills. knuckler, FastLane, pepeda, scotto and a few others are the ones that keep this forum going. If they get burned out, we could be in trouble. It is good that we get graphic newcomers like Skywalker to propagate the specie, who will be a good one as he gets more experience. His first one was really good. Last edited by Eugene Church; 12-06-2004 at 11:21 AM. |

Sure, no doubt. I don't have much time to make logos now, but use to check this forum to take a look at what's going on. Another good thing this place provides is the chance for people to improve their skills enormously simply by creating rip-offs. There are guys whose first attemps were pretty basic and now do quite nice stuff.

These last three are ones I did a couple months ago. Entirely my designs. And I know - they may not be anything to brag about, but it just goes to show how much one can improve in one year, months, days, if he/she works at it. Because although they may not be cuss quality, even I have to admit they are better than the two in my first post.
